Changing cars in Canada

I drive an old car in fair condition in the US. It is not quite old enough for the age exemption. With the state of the car, my preference would be to sell it and just buy a used car in Canada rather than importing it. However, I need it to move! In normal times I would move in, then go back to the US and sell the car, then return to Canada and buy a car -- however that is very complicated (and time-consuming) due to COVID and quarantine requirements.

Is there any way to donate or scrap the car in Canada if it is not registered/imported there, or will I need to return to the US to deal with it? The car is worth maybe $800 US. Other creative solutions very welcome.

You wouldn't be able to sell it in Canada without importing it first. You might be able to donate it, but $800 is an unlikely number to recieve for it as it would end up as scrap.
