Chances of receiving Visitor Visa

What are the chances of someone's parents getting a visitor visa (father age 72 years and mother 62 years). Father has some health issues. Both parents own no property, have a minimal bank balance and are both retired with no source of income. They do have some children living in Pakistan where they are applying from. Father has no recent travel history and neither does the mother. They want to apply for a visitor visa to visit their married son in Canada. Their son earns a good salary (above 90 k /year). What are the chances that the parents will be able to get a visitors visa?

Do consider super visas if your dad is likely not to have any issues for the medical examination

Super visa requires a medical exam? Is it very thorough exam? Will I need to buy health insurance? His health is not very good. Some prostate problems, and some kidney problems. Otherwise okay I guess.

Yes, to all questions.

You might want to have your dad go through super visa medicals before he actually applies.... sort of like 'practice' medicals just to be sure there are no health concerns that could affect his chances of a super visa approval

Thanks for the advice. So if any health issues come up the visa is not issued? Even if we purchase health insurance?
What about regular visitor visa since they only plan to stay for a month maximum, does that also require medical exam? How much minimum bank balance does one need to show?

Most probably, yes. Or else, medical furtherance/secondary medical tests might be requested.

Insurance would only cover emergencies

Normally not required. It's best though to include an overseas travel medical insurance policy nonetheless.

All finances that can be verified

You also need to be prepared pay for any care he receives in Canada. If he has preexisting conditions they likely won't be covered under insurance. You will have to decide whether you have the finances to deal with an unexpected hospitalization.
