Hi All,

Hope this mail finds you well.

I seek advise regarding how cfa level 1 certification can be utilised to gain points for canada express entry profile.

Attaching the below link which states that it has been recognised by IIROC now. Please advise me how can i utilise it for my benefit now.

https://www.cfainstitute.org/en/abo...institute-receives-new-recognition-from-iiroc

Since this is a global program already, so I don’t think i would need to get it assessed by Wes or some other body. Please advise.

I need the following information from you-

1. Do i need to get it accessed by WES or some other body?
2. Can i mark canada as the country of study for this course as its recognised by IIROC and declared equivalent to Canadian Securities Course.
3. What do i mark the institute as? CFA or IIROC?

Please help me come resolve this situation and boost my express entry score.

Authenticated information would be very much appreciated

Thanks & Regards,
Shivani Aggarwal

Dear Shivani, F.Y.I. Hoping this might help. All the best.

Yes, I did visit the link you included. Unfortunately, the rules you mentioned have nothing to do with Express Entry and IRCC. CFA still doesn't count neither as a "certificate of qualification of a Canadian province" nor "equivalence to a secondary/post-secondary Canadian degree". Besides, all foreign education degrees/diplomas have to be assessed by an approved agency (WES, CES, ...) no matter how prestigious your degree or certificate is.

I am interested as well. I passed CFA level III last year. Although it does not qualify for education certificate, do you think there is a way to submit the CFA examination result as a supporting document? Would it be helpful if my NOC is relevant?

Per my understanding of what is written in the link, cfa is recognised by the institution IIROC now considered equivalent to one of their own canadian courses i.e. canadian securities course. So, I don’t think it is required to be accessed by WES or any other body. This is pretty new news. So seek some expert advice here.

In case that you guys would like to clarify the matter, why don’t you send IRCC a message. They operate an official Twitter account with open communication to everyone on regular basis. Asking IRCC must help to save a lot of time and avoid any misunderstanding.

FYI - You don't get any points for having CSC.

I passed level 1 as well and have cpa from US but these are certifications and won’t give any benefit in express entry profile.
