Thanks! I'll prepare a bit and go for IELTS. Fingers crossed!
With what you've got before, just a little more push in writing would get you to the band 7 mark.
Be sure that your word count is at least what is required for each task. The way I made this sure was while practicing, I used official IELTS writing task sheets (pdf available online) and then found my average number of words per line. So in the actual test, I only had to check the number of lines I wrote to get a good estimate of my word count.
Follow some of the very minutes, yet detailed, tips given on http://ieltsliz.com/

Good luck,

Unfortunately, I have to agree with most folks here in terms of Ielts/Celpip. Below are my scores with Celpip and Ielts:

Celpip:
LRWS: 11,12,9,8- overall band 8. I tried re-eval as well, but no change.

Ielts:
LRWS: 9,9,7,7.5- overall band 8

Don't waste your time with Celpip. Its much easier to score in Ielts. I hope this helps someone.

Thanks for sharing your experiences regarding CELPIP test.

Here is mine:

Don't waste your time with CELPIP. One of the worst English language test i have ever taken. Especially do not expect higher scores at all in writing and speaking. Money grabbers..???

My experience:

CELPIP 1st Attempt :

Listening : 11
Reading:11
Writing : 7
Speaking: 7

Re - evaluation for Writing and Speaking nothing has changed.

CELPIP 2nd Attempt :

Listening : 11
Reading:12
Writing : 7
Speaking: 7

Re - evaluation for Writing and Speaking nothing has changed.

Finally,

IELTS 1st Attempt:

Listening : 9
Reading: 8.5
Writing : 7.5
Speaking: 8

I should have taken IELTS first time itself !!! Wasted my money and time !!

All the best guys !! Beware !! Go for IELTS !!

Good luck,
This was helpful. Thank-you!

I attended IELTS on 18th Aug and finally got what I was looking for.
L-9, R-8.5, S-7.5, W-7.5

I'd also recommend IELTS over CELPIP to anyone looking to choose between the two. If writing on a paper (instead of on a computer) is a problem, like it was for me, practicing for a few days helps a lot to become more comfortable.

Just wanted to share my CELPIP status:

1st Attempt:
L7 R9 W7 S6
Re - evaluation for Speaking nothing has changed.

2nd Attempt:
L8 R10 W7 S6
Requested re-evaluation for speaking today.

Actually I think my writing can get 8, but I am ok with my writing score now. I just want to get 7 on speaking. I think I did better this time.
Hope I can receive my re-evaluation result with score 7 on speaking.

Hello, for an exam on Sep. 7 I got:

Listening 12
Reading 12
Writing 10
Speaking 8

From the forum posts, it seemed that I could take a chance with a re-evaluation for speaking, which I have just requested. Will keep my fingers crossed.

Re-evaluation result received, nothing changed.
R:12
L:12
W:8
S:7

Requested for re-evaluation for S. I took IELTS-A four years ago, speaking was CLB 8; took IELTS-G three years ago, speaking was CLB 8 too. Thought CELPIP would be easier, turns out not~ I did prepare for more than one month, did few sample tests. Can't believe this. After one-year study (master's degree) and two years full-time work, I only got a CLB 7 in CELPIP. Will try IELTS next month.
