CELPIP - Feedback after taking the exam

Hey guys, I wish you are having a great weekend. I'm writing this post because I've just finished the CELPIP test 2 hours ago. I did very well (from my point of view) in writing, reading and listening, but I had a hard time when speaking. Questions 1-11 went well, but then I realized the time was ticking and I rushed over the last 5 questions saying whatever it came to my mind. Moreover, I couldn't complete the question 16 where you have to talk about a topic for 2 minutes. When I reached that particular question, I had 58 seconds left so I spoke as faster as possible. I did my best, but I'm immensely disappointed because I know I can do better. My questions are below:

- Did someone face a situation like this? If so, have you been able to score 4L anyways?
- If I finally get 3H, can I ask for revision? How long it takes? I read somewhere that you are able to pay $50 or so to get a revision.
- Finally, between exams... How long should I wait to retake the test?

I feel devastated... and I have to wait 2 weeks to know the results. Yikes!

^Congratulations on your exam! I was on the same situation as you. I lost track of time on the speaking part because of overthinking. You're even on a better situation than I was because I wasn't able to answer the last one which was the 2-minute speaking question. I felt really bad and I thought that my mistake will cost me the 4L that I need to apply for CEC. When the scores were posted online, I was almost jumping for joy when I got 5L on the speaking part. I got 5H on all the other parts. So I was able to prove that it doesn't matter if you were able to finish it as long as you answered the other questions to their satisfaction, then you don't have to worry

Thanks for replying! Actually, I'm a bit nervous because I didn't think clearly when answering the last 4 questions. I know that many people here have said that you shouldn't spend to much time overthinking, but it's natural to try to score the best score posible per question, so at the end you realize the time is not enough to complete the test.

Advice: Don't rush, but don't overthink either. Hard to say, even harder to apply it. Good luck to everyone!

Guys, I have another question regarding this test. In the writing part ,which I felt super comfortable, I realized that I wrote more than they asked for. For instance, the first letter should be between 100-125, but I went over 200. The same for the second letter. Is this an error / issue? Did I do something wrong?

^ No problem with that. I exceeded the number of words as well. Got 5H in writing

I think i got right candidates to ask few questions. I planning to take the same test so i need your help to prepare myself.

1. Can you please send me link or material whatever to do some practice tests.
2. You both felt Speaking was difficult, Would it be good for take this test since I am not that fluent in English. I want to see which type of those speaking questions.
3. Cant we sit exam immidiately if dont get our target in first attempt?

- Go to their website www.celpiptest.ca. There is a practice exam there for you to familiarize yourself with the format When you register, you will have the option to buy their e-book and access to 2 sets of online practice exams.


2. You both felt Speaking was difficult, Would it be good for take this test since I am not that fluent in English. I want to see which type of those speaking questions.

- The questions are not difficult. It's only the time limit of 30 minutes that is quite challenging specially if you have the tendency to overthink. Just make sure to mind the time.


3. Cant we sit exam immidiately if dont get our target in first attempt?

- Nope. You have to wait 1 month before you retake.

I have gone through the practice test from the web that you have mentioned. And would be same format and similar type of questions in real exam also?

1 to 15 questions - All will be same category or difficulty will raise one after one?
16 question - Which type of question would it be?

Another question, Will we get chance or sometime to see Speaking test questions before the test starts?

I cannot tell you exactly how it is divided per part. Please do your own research if you really want the information. The thing is I familiarized myself with the format and the usual questions, not how it is divided per part. If you think that way then you overthink more than I do and it will be a bit of a problem come exam day, believe me Just do the practice test, buy the ebook and give it your best shot!
