Hello guys,
I have a question about the work experience and reference letter required when submitting your application. Would appreciate any advice you can offer. I have an ITA under the cec category. I started working at a flat roofing company in January 2015.I had no experience in this work before so would have been considered a roofer trainee for the first few months anyway I suppose.I set up my express entry profile in January 2016. I am now able to do anything that an experienced flat roofer would be expected to do so would no longer consider myself a trainee. The reference letter asks for all positions held while at the company. Should the letter be broken down into two parts: one for roofer trainee, the other for flat roofer? Trainee roofer falls into the same noc(7291) as a fully qualified roofer. Does it matter that I set up my profile after a year, even though a lot of that year was spent learning on the job? There is no trade cert required for flat roofing.

Hi there,

Yes you should mention that you were a trainee from date xxx to date xxx then you can state from date xxx to date xxx you were at the position of xxx. Well obviously the company needs to compose that letter for you.
As long as you were paid for the training - meaning you filed your taxes and everything you are good to go.

Best of luck,

Thanks for the reply. And there's no problem with the fact that I was a trainee for the purposes of cec? I still have over a years's experience where i was qualified to do the work without supervision.

No it does not matter! If your job required some paid training then you are good to go!

Best of luck,
