Oh, lucky! I did mine on Jan 29 also and no added line in ecas yet!

FYI,

I have done my medicals on Jan 29, 2016 and my doctor have uploaded them on Feb 02 and today Feb 08, ECAS is updated with the line "Medicals have been received".

Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww !Great !!!! I guess the ecas is not updated on time in most of the cases with upfront MRs.

no its not, the results will stay in file until your application reaches the medial phase. that's when they look into you file to send you MR. as they find the medical and then post it online,

Most likely, like every job, in CIC there are different teams each work on a phase of the application. and has specific tasks to do.

after you pass medical, you get the request to pay the PR fee,

once paid, CIC do a final review for the application and then asks for your passport to issue the visa do you exit and re-enter Canada to do the landing.

if you are from a visa exempt country you don't get your passport requested, you will get the COPR. directly

I differ to your thoughts Teb, I am a OCT 2014 applicant and we did our upfront on 14 jan 2016. My doctor updated our results on 19th jan. I waited for a week and sent a email to CIC. CIC replied next day confirming our results are received and a Medical officer is reviewing the report.
After a week or so the "medical received" line got updated on ECAS. Another friend who did the upfront medical with us got his ECAS updated earlier. I believe because his medical was all clear and for us my spouse has existing medical surveillance so they pass us after getting the medical surveillance clearance we sent them
Later.
May be my assumption is wrong but being a OCT 2014 applicant I am definitely not due for my MR but my ECAS is update and pretty much on time.

My medical got updated on emedical on 19th jan and 21 jan ( additional) and it got updated on ECAS on 5th feb. In between these two days we sent the medical surveillance clearance to CIC (we luckily received on jan28) I guess the clearance helped us pass the medical and same got updated on 5th feb

Mr singh,

We chose to do upfront because as I said my spouse was on medical surveillance when we applied for work visa. We didn't wanted to waste 3 months doing the same tests again so we decided to do upfront as soon we saw August guys getting medical in trend. Blessing in disguise we got the medical clearance and didn't had to
repeat any tests. Saved time and money
You may do upfront if u believe CIC is going to continue the pace. I believed so.

1. cic don't ask for medical if it was done upfront,, waiting medical request is an indication that they got to my file.
2. medical health changes, sending it when requested they will receive you most recent health stats


it maybe saved me 2 weeks if u did upfront but who cares about 2 weeks in 18 month period. they received my medical Jan 8 and nothing happened after

seems each medical case is different, mine ran smoothly. because you did your medical for work reasons it makes total sense to use same results rather than paying the fees again 3 months later
