CEC after already applied as Skilled Worker

Hey,

I sent my Skilled Worker application three months ago and just gained my two years of experience 8) which made me eligible for the CEC and apparently it's much quicker than the Skilled Worker.

Just wondering if it's possible to apply for the CEC if I already apply as a skilled worker.

Thanks for your input. :)

Yes, you can apply to more than one program.

yes you are allowed to apply under more than one category, tons of people on the program have done it myself included. I applied under FSW first and now have an application under CEC as well. To see the official quote from CIC go here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/faq/immigrate/cec/index.asp

It goes as follows:

Q-> If I have already submitted an application for permanent residence as a skilled worker (the traditional way to apply), can I still apply under this category?
A-> Yes, but applicants are required to submit a new application with new fees.
If CIC has not started processing the skilled worker application, the applicant could withdraw it and may be entitled to a refund.
It is not forbidden to apply simultaneously with two different streams of the Economic Class.
However, the applicant will have to choose under which one the permanent resident status will be granted.

It's clear now. Thank you so much for the clarification.
The cic rule is quite fair to me :D.

Hi Chief3rd,

Another question occurs to me :-[. Do I need to have two medical exams done if I decide to submit two applications simultaneously?

I'm not sure but most likely since each application is treated separately. However from observation one application usually reaches completion before another one reaches medicals stage. Maybe someone else on the forum with that experience will be able to help but I haven't seen that happen as yet.

I am sure that one exam is enough regardless how many applications unless it is expired, because when you do the exam the doctor sends the results to a pecific specialised branch of the cic in Ottawa where specialised officers who know about medical conditions (maybe even doctors) check the resuilts and xray and post their findings in a system accessible by all visa and processing offices so anytime you send an application they run your name and number and see if they have a medical on you in their database and if so they use that. Now sometimes you need to send them a reminder that you actually did a medical before your latest application.
