Thanks a lot for all your responses! I'll be doing the old pathway instead. Im single, no dependents, finshed 2 yrs with only a single employer and never went outside canada for the whole duration. I think it will not take 4 yrs to process my pr. I also know several people who filed last sept using the old pathway and and they are already scheduled for interview.

Hi. Happy New Year! Guys can you help me out if I need to apply for open work permit together with my application of PR- childcare pathway.

My situation is like this, I will be completing my 24months on MArch 2017, so as of now I'm complying all my requirements for the new pathway. My extended work permit to my employer will still end on March 2020- Do I have to apply for an Open work permit together with my PR? Thank you. Cause I'm afraid if I do both maybe my OWP would clash with my PR- making my PR processing longer. Ps. I only have my Husband to sponsor also would it make it faster? Waiting for reply.

It depends on the fact that you are going to apply under the new pathway or the old one. If you choose the new pathway, that you must meet the eligibility requirements for an open work permit. Your current work permit must expire in 4 months (or less) when you apply for the new one. If your current work permit is valid until 2020, you may not meet those requirements.

Thank you for the reply. I'm just wondering cause I wanted to have a part time job and having an open work permit is necessary.

Hi, this is another issue- my husband went for upfront medical exam in UAE- but the panel Doctor their said their is a new rule that upfront will not be anymore allowed for spousal sponsorship. And they need a letter from cic requesting IME. But the upfront medical exam is on my checklist- or - caring for child pathway.. so what I'm gonna do?

I've read that in your application they ask your dependent for an IME? Even though your husband have medical already right? Can u please tell me what was the request from the email you received for your dependent? Thank you.

Are you applying under Caring for Children? Try one of the following:
- call to another panel physician (may be to another city) and just ask his/her opinion about the case. Ask if that doctor could do medical exam. If another doctor says he/she can do it, then try to call your doctor in your city (who refused to you) and explain him the situation.
- try to show the doctor this guide http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5797ETOC.asp where it's stated You and all your family members who are not already Canadian citizens or permanent residents must undergo an upfront medical examination before you submit your application.
- try to call to CIC help center http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/call.asp and ask them some advice.
- and finally you can try to apply without your spouse's exam. Just include your own exam. Here you have two cases:
1. you application may be returned to you as incomplete and all documents that are not presented in the application, will be marked there. In this case you would 100% sure that your spouse exam is needed before an application is sent. Then you can contact your panel physician again. Don't be afraid that your application may be returned, it's ok. No money is charged in this case. Our app was returned to us as incomplete, and we just sent it again after completeness. The worst is that you just lose 2-3 weeks and that's all.
2. CIC can accept your app without your spouse's exam (if they really have that rule now). In this case your spouse will get a request via email about medical exam.

About my app - we both did our medical upfront. And the email from CIC was not about medical exam, it was about some security checks that are generally needed for all PR applicants.

Hi. We called the affiliated clinic of cic in UAE- they really neeed an IME from cic for them to give an upfront medical. They will give they said but it's for worker medical type( tourist, temporary worker, express) And I think the upfront type my husband needed would be - family Ede same as what is mine.
The ircc- I've been trying to call them as of now no luck- high volume of calls. So, let's see maybe there are some updates I still have 1 month to comply the requirements.

Hi!

Actually, when I passed my medical in August, my doctor told me that she could only mark my exam as "for workers", because they (in CIC) had some internal reasons for that. She told me the reason briefly: to mark my exam as for "immigration" I needed to have a spouse in Canada who had to be citizen already. And when both spouses are applying for immigration simultaneously, the only possible option for upfront exam is to mark it as "for workers". But she told be that I shouldn't worry about that because in CIC they all knew about that case. And I didn't worry and all was ok.

I'm not sure that my reply can help you somehow :))) But may be now you have more information.
