Dear All,

I have heard mixed opinions on this...If I am a PR, and want to get a TRV for my spouse...is it absolutely, on paper, blindly rejected? Or is it just extremely "difficult?" Some say it is extremely difficult, and others say that irregardless, they blindly reject the TRV application. Please advise. Thank you.

It is not impossible for everyone, but it can be extremely difficult for many people. In order to overcome the assumption that once she is in the same country as her spouse, she will not want to leave when her authorised period of stay ends, your spouse must show she has every reason to return to where she is coming from, by the use of "ties" such as:

1) home/property ownership
2) attendance at school for which fees have been paid
3) proof of employment obligations
4) presence of minor children who are being left behind

This list is not exhaustive.

From all your other posts, it is obvious your wife has none of these ties. She is a stay-at-home mother who is entirely dependent on you, and your child is of such an age that she cannot leave it behind. You are also currently residing, if memory serves me correctly, in a country in which she holds residence only by virtue of your employment of that country, it is not her country of citizenship. I say all of this to say, the bar is extremely high for her to get a TRV.

It's $150 Canadian to make the application, can you afford to lose it? If you can, then the only thing left for you to do is to stop asking questions here in hopes of getting the answer you want. Make the application, and wait for what happens next.

Dear All,

I went ahead and applied! In May, 2010, the application got rejected. This time, I included a cover letter mentioning the following:

- Her closest tie to the UAE is me, as she is a housewife, and if I have to return, she will return. I cannot return to Canada as a permanent residence for at least another 8-9 months due to my mother's illness and personal obligations here in the UAE.
- I included her travel history, including European countries on a shengen visa, Oman, Saudi Arabia, among other countries, showing the visa was used and travel was during the authorized duration.
- I included a salary certificate from my employer indicating dates of approved leave.
- I included an outstanding loan amount from my employer, which indicates that it will take another 7 months to pay that loan off. I wrote on the letter that I cannot simply run away with this outstanding loan.
- I included return air tickets to/from Canada for all three of us
- I included a copy of my PR card.
- I included a notorized invitation letter from a friend of mine, who is asking us to celebrate their fifth anniversary together and join them for a university reunion.
- I included six months of bank statements.
- I included a death certificate of my first child, where my wife and I regularly visit his burial site, and would like to stay in the UAE as long as possible so we can continue to visit as often.

So, I basically tried to prove that her closest tie to UAE is me, and my documents are listed as above. I hope the air tickets should make the case strong as well.

Will keep you all posted!

Also, we went and applied in person, and the receptionist said she is not the VO, but said it will take 3-4 weeks to process the application, due to my nationality being from one of the countries that takes an additional 10 days. If the visa were to be rejected, do they usually send the rejection immediately in a day or two? I am assuming that the longer it takes, the higher the chances of getting the TRV.

anyone?
