canadian police certificate needed?

Hi,

I was wondering if I need a canadian police certificate for my application for permanent residency? I'm getting sponsored by my canadian common law partner. I'm applying from outside of Canada but I'm in Canada for more than 6 months.

No - you don't need a Canadian police certificate.

I only found this page on the CIC website:

and it says there that I might need it. If I get it right....because I'm applying from outside..

it sounds like they will request it or they may not but they would decide that after looking at your app.

If you are applying under any other category or from outside of Canada, you may be requested to submit a Canadian police certificate for your time in Canada.

so I should not get it done right now? If I would wait for that my other police certificates may expire and I have to get them again including translations which would cost me a lot of money again.

No i wouldn't get it done right now.

I had to call the call center about police certificates as well, they informed me as long as they don't expire from the time CIC receives your application you won't need to get them redone so I think you should be fine on your other certificates.
