Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

Foe those who submitted applications by walking into passport office, do they check your complete application at the time of submission and return you back your citizenship certificate on spot or they just take everything from you and later check everything ?

They check everything very thoroughly in front of you and they give you the certificate back.

you might want to double check something, Montreal and Gatineau are two different cities in Quebec, 2 hours apart by road lol

Oh no. Best case scenario it was delivered successfully and tracking just failed to update. Try to contact Passport Canada to confirm they did get it?

I am hoping that is the case. Else it would be such a misery, Didn't even get to enjoying seeing the Citizenship Certificate properly . Add to my stupidity, didn't even take a picture or scan of the certificate... double oops...

Now that walk in has started... , use that as much as you can or use the passport agent option, so that you don't lose the originals....
It is rather absurd, that when you travel , a passport has all the information when scanned at the airport or customs. However, multiple organizations that are linked to IRCC , Passport program - cannot just run the citizenship certificate number, for new applicants, without of having to sent the originals to them.

I made the same mistake by sending documents through canadapost. I sent it on 2nd July form Toronto and delivered on 12th July (should have been delivered 5th July). They still have excuse of covid.

At the least it was delivered late... mine is in transit limbo....
Yeah, somewhere I read CanadaPost mails are preferred and prioritized vs mails sent by courier... Now I am really thinking was the priority really worth it.. , if documents are lost

I called Passport Canada today and they confirmed my passport is printed but there's no clarity about when the passport / certificate will be mailed-out. When I enquired about tracking number, I was asked to call back again in 2 weeks. However the person did confirm the in-depth details of my application till date:

July 3rd: Application Sent via regular mail (Toronto->Gatineau)
July 7th: Application Received by Passport Canada (Gatineau)
July 8th - 18th: Transferred to Whitby (Not sure about exact date)
July 19th: Applicated Received in Whitby / Processing Started
July 27th: CC Charged by Passport Canada Whitby
July 29th: Passport Printed (Currently passport going through quality checks)

How did you track regular mail. Did you have to keep on calling Passport Office to get an update or did you have a tracking number with Canada Post.

I didn't know the exact dates earlier but when I called Passport Canada yesterday (29th) after CC charge, the person himself confirmed all the dates of my application in detail.

I did call 2 more times before (on 16th & 20th) to ensure if my regular mail package was delivered. It wasn't in their system on July 16th, but on 20th the phone support only confirmed its in their system (no other details).

They just gave you the 20th day as a standard reply from the date of application received. Don't hold to it. Either today or next week your CC will be charged and following week you'll get the passport. 2 more weeks.

Application received July 09th. Was informed today that my application is also being processed in Whitby. No CC charged yet.

I called for an update on my passport today. Was told the following:

1) Received on 8th July. Entered in the system but they haven't started working on the application. No CC charge yet.
2) Average processing time is now 20-30 business days + mail time.
