I am new here and just recently read some of the forums for Filipinos who filed for a divorce in Canada. Mine is another case though. My boyfriend got married in the Philippines but had his divorce way back 2006 in Canada. His wife initiated the divorce and he is not sure whether his ex-wife was still a Filipino or already a Canadian when she filed. For sure, he was still a Filipino when they divorced. Now he is a Canadian and wants to marry me here in the Philippines this June. Will the marriage be valid so he can sponsor me? Please help us so we may know the repercussions of getting married in the Philippines where divorce is not recognized.
