Apparently they chose us for security screening otherwise i’ve been told that our application is normal and they don’t need any additional documents. I will contact my MP next week.

Has a lot to do with the country or origin. Waiting also increases if there needs to be an interview or there are any concerns/red flags. In immigration there are only estimates. Things usually go quickly at the beginning and then things slow down when it is up to the government and other foreign governments.

Algeria, he used to reside in France like me but he went back to Algeria at month 14. So far there has not been a request for an interview.

I'm Canadian by birth, my partner is Australian/British citizen. Our application took 16 months. There was nothing special about our application at all. No criminal history, no medical issues, nothing.

The reason it took so long is that we are not the only people applying for a visa! It takes as long as it takes. Thankfully we live in the same country so we did not have to be apart during our wait time.

That must have been the old system or that would be considered very abnormal.
