Hi All,

My Application was received on Dec 8th and Got File No on 15th April and my medicals on 2nd May. PNP from PEI.

I had my medical test for PR this week.

Me and my wife cleared the test without any issues.

My 2.5 Years Old son has been asked to be referred to a Pediatric Doctor, because he didn't do what the Doctor instructed him to do during the examination.

Doctor also told that Pediatric appointment won't be given soon and it may take many months for Pediatric Doctor appointment, since its not an emergency situation.

Is it common for Medical test issue with toddler Kids. How long does it will take for the appointment and getting the medicals completed for my kid.

I am really worried on the outcome of his medical test, Please provide your thoughts on this.

Has anyone faced similar situation. any thoughts welcome.

We are in the same situation. We were able to complete the Specialist Report that was required for my son who also has a speech delay. After one week of submitting the documents, we got an email from the Visa Office that my son needs to undergo further tests.

Hi, ohitmelori, how's your son, did he already re evaluated by the dev pedia? We did our medical last Mar.31, 2015 and my son was diagnosed of speech delay by a dev pedia...the CIC emailed us for medical furtherance to be re-evaluated after 6 months...my son is on speech therapy and attending pre school. He is now 3 yrs old, im hoping and praying that my son's medical will be approved by the CIC and get our visa soon. Good luck to us and god bless :)

We did a speech assessment for my son (5 years), and the report shows that he is still learning English, English is a second language for him. After that they asked us for development report, which is not done yet. I am not sure what the results will be and how the whole application will be effected.

I know the thread is old but I was wondering if there was any update for anyone.
My current situation: we are waiting for an ITA but my son (4 years old) has a slight speech delay. he does use 4-5 phrase sentence but his enunciation is not great so he is going to a speech therapist to help.
how strict are they regarding speech delay, my son can follow 2 step instructions, understand english without an issue and does not have behavioral problems.
Would a note from our pediatrician saying that he his speech delay will clear up over time?

My son (5 years) went through speech assessment (asked by CIC), which showed that he is learning English (English is not mother tongue), and they advised to do the assessment in Arabic (his moth tongue). We got another furtherance letter to do a development assessment, they want to make sure he has no issues such as learning difficulties. The development assessment was positive and we passed the medical exam. I also supported my application by a reports from school that his English level meets expectation . I would say that speech delay won't be a problem, but I guess they will ask for more medical reports.

thank you for the information. We are US based so english is his main language and hopefully that will help having to redo the assessment. was your development assesment done at any center or just the one the CIC allows?

If the panel physician didn't recognize his speech delay, then it won't be a problem (assuming you didn't do the medical test yet). If CIC requested any further medical tests, you will get a notification letter to visit the panel physician (immigration doctor), he/she will advise you where to go, he/she will make a referral to certain specialist to do the medical test.

Our medical was expired due to various medical furtherance of my 6 yr old son who underwent various assessment sessions with developmental pediatrician. cic even requested hearing test, behavioral assessment including IQ evaluation. The result of his IQ evaluation was not GDD ( global developmental delay). He got an average in his overall IQ evaluation. Its very hard to find developmental pedia ( Manila, Philippines) and if found one surely it will cost so much time to get an appointment and its very costly..and the issuance of their reports took so much delays..and a lot of patience for follow ups..

On Sept 1, CIC requested remedical for the whole family ( since our fist medical was already more than 1 yr) . we scheduled the medical right away..After a week, I received an email requesting another additonal medical reports for my 6 yr old son...( same letter content that i received more than a year ago) . I am already hopeless and dont know where to look for developmental pedia who will do the required report within in less than 60days time frame..pls help..

I know my reply is so late. But hoping on helping others that has similar problem. When we had the medical exam the GM notice also that my son ( he is 3years old that time) Have speech delay and recommended some test. This cause us 4 months delay on our papers. He had hearing test, and Psych-ed exam but all normal except for speech delay and they suspect learning disabilities. The Psychologist recommend speech therapy and preschool. But when CIC received all required test they approved our application. Now where living in Vancouver for almost 4 years and now waiting for our citizenship application. My son is doing well and receiving speech therapy at their school every week. I hope everything is well on your kid.
Mam, would the cic wait for the result because the nearest appointment we could have for a developmental pediatrician would be on Feb 2019? Im also from the Philippines and it is so hard to get an appointment. Thank you.

yes they will wait for the result.. you can also consult developmental psychologist instead of dev pedia. If you are within Manila or south area i can refer you to our dev psychologist who can do assessment and the required reports within 8weeks frametime.

I already had an appointment this coming December mam, it is indeed hard to book a schedule with a devped but thanks for the referral. I would also like to know if how does a doctor assess the child? What are some of the activities that were done during the assessment? Can you kindly share the experience? Thank you.
