Can married couple live apart? 10 months in Canada

What is the married couples immigration status , are they both already PRs or citizens. If either then a married couple can live apart for years if they want nobody cares given for example PR residency obligation is an individual responsibility. If a PR spouse application is in process then that could be a different matter/answer.
If there is an "inland" sponsorship application in progress under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada class, the answer is No.
Anything else is probably ok.
