Hello everyone.

I packed up all of my stuff 14 months ago and moved to the U.S. Went through immigration process for my wife. We both got jobs and bought a house. Unfortunately we are now going to sell the house and go separate ways. I wish to return to Canada to live.
I'm trying to find out what steps are required to move back to Canada.
I still have a valid P.R. card, and a valid provincial drivers license.

Any information would help!

Hi

If you have only been gone 14 months and still meet the PR Residency Obligation, you should be fine to just move back.

How do I know if I still meet the PR obligations?
You'll need to calculate that yourself. The PR obligation requires you to live in Canada for 2 out of every 5 rolling years.

Okay thanks. I have lived there 40 out of the past 41 years
You are good then. But just in case someone else reads this thread: Please note that only the last five years are relevant. You can have lived in Canada for 50 years, if you leave for more than three years, your PR status can be challenged since they only look at the last five years when crossing the border.

The OP is fine though, since they were only gone for a bit more than a year, just wanted to clarify for other readers.
