Hello,
I have a complicated situation, I'm a 29-years Saudi female and was born in Canada. I got my canadian passport and I'm thinking about leaving KSA in couple of months to Canada. My father -who has only a Saudi nationality- has my Saudi passport and refused to give it to me.

My question is,
when I'm in the airport, would they ban me leaving Jeddah if I used my canadian passport?
This is would be the first time for me to travel with it.

Thanks in advance.

Hi I lived and worked in Jeddah a long time ago. Was in Yanbu, Jubai, Abqaiq, Dammam etc. My advice to you would be go to a Canadian consulate or embassy in Jeddah and take their advice. I am sure they will get you out of there as you are a Canadian citizen and Saudi cannot stop you.

My understanding (I do not know if this is true or not) is that it is illegal for an Arabian citizen to be in possession of a foreign passport while in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Presenting a Canadian passport at the airport in Jeddah may result in your arrest and conviction of a criminal offence.

Thanks for replying :)
I emailed the embassy 2 days ago, but I think I need to call or visit.

Hello Natan,
That's right only about saudis, the thing is we can have other passports but hidden and used outside the kingdom only.

they won't arrest, maybe only stop me from traveling. unless I revoke my saudi nationality, that would be my last resort.

What about leaving via a land border? I would consult with the Canadian embassy.

In Saudi Arabia, women may posses a Saudi passport only with their husband's permission (his in-person signature is required on the passport application). Saudi women may not drive in the Kingdom, nor may they venture out unescorted. (Unless these laws have changed recently.) [War torn] Yemen and Jordan are the closest land borders, and they are at least 1,000 km away. [ISIS controlled] Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and UAE are at least 2,000 km away. And no major roads connect Oman to the Kingdom.

Under the master citizenship rule, the Kingdom is under no obligation to recognize Canadian citizenship, and Canadian authorities may not be able to assist dual citizens.
