Hi everyone,
I have my final interview for my PR application in Calgary on wednesday. The immigration office is currently flooded so I'm not sure if it is still scheduled to go ahead.

Keeping in mind I have to drive for 13 hours to get to this appointment I need to know what to do. If I miss the appointment then it is taken by CIC as a sign of lack of interest and can possibly jeopardize my application. However, I dont want to drive all that way and then have to turn around again.

How would I contact them to find out what I should do? Has anyone ever had success in getting their file transferred to a different office? I'm actually closer to Vancouver now that I've moved.

Thanks
p.s i realize my problems pale in comparison to the poor Calgary folk :(

Contact the CIC call centre and ask what to do. Chances are they may already have other plans in place.

Many places have been evacuated, if you already know it is flooded, the likely hood of it still being a "go" is slim (IMO). Contacting the CIC call center will probably not be useful. If you have an e-mail address contact them that way.

They really have bigger issues at hand (saving anything: equipment/files ect.) They may have moved the interview to a different location. Your MP might be able to get through to them faster?

the call center number is 1 888 242 2100 (just in case)

I hope that you find out, good luck!

If your appointment is anywhere downtown, it's been cancelled. The Mayor has ordered no one downtown right now.

I would assume it's cancelled and call to reschedule.

Just write them by snail mail or fax that you are not going because of the flood and your 13 hour drive distance and request for a later landing appointment. Send a copy of the landing appointment letter

Look at my sig, call CIC in that sequence to reach an agent ( unless they changed the style )

If I were you:

1) E-mail CIC

2) Call CIC

3) Post a letter to CIC

Do all of the above to show that you did everything you could to contact them. And clearly state you could not attend the interview dues to the flood.

Hi Kiwicaro,

I am on the same boat. I sponsored my wife for the PR and she was scheduled to have the interview this Wednesday.

I called CIC this morning. They said the office is closed today but they don't have information other than that. But they indicated most probably the office wouldn't be open this Wednesday. CIC Calgary will contact us for the re-schedule.

I'll call CIC again tomorrow morning anyways.

God Bless

Hello everyone,
Looks like I'm in the same situation.
My interview was scheduled on June 26, got cancelled due to the flooding; I called CIC - which had no information on when the Calgary office would possibly open and advised me to wait till I receive a letter from them; the following day I drove to the building, bumped into a security worker (a very charming and talkative lady) who said that the building just passed the air test, so it's most likely to be opened next week. Then prairies-situations e-mail was posted on CIC website, so I decided to contact them and the very same day got a response saying that the building will be opened on July 2 and that they will do they're best to contact me regarding the new date of my PR appointment within one or two business days. Haven't received the letter yet :(
Does anyone have any new information, pleeease?

Hi Missjblake, I still haven't received any information yet. I called yesterday afternoon (July 2). The call centre agent said most likely we would receive a letter for the re-schedule. Assuming they send out the letter within 1 - 2 business days, we will receive it by Friday. This is what I hope.

Aaaand it's finally here!
The letter came in this morning, rescheduling my appointment on July 16.
One more week to go :)

Did you guys have any luck with yours?

not yet :(
I live in Airdrie ... usually we get mails a day later than Calgary. hopefully will get it tomorrow.

Btw, what date is it on the letter?

Hi missjblake,

no...no luck...we still haven't got the letter. But very interesting (and confusing), we sent a fax to CIC Calgary and asked for an update today. This afternoon, we got a call back from them. The officer said my wife's medical exam had expired (she did the exam in April last year but she received the letter of confirmation for the interview this March, one month before the expiration). She said they now need to wait for the medical result extension before the re-schedule of the interview. But I was wondering....if there were no flooding, and we went to the interview (assuming it went well), she would already have got her status. Why now they need the extension? Nothing has changed before and after the flooding.
