not exceeding the earliest expiry date means that the Visa will expiry on either expiry of the medicals or the passport, whichever happens first. Which means that it would seem in your case they extended the medicals for additional period of 12 months without actually requiring your wife to redo them.

they extended it for 12 months without notifying him !

That would be amazing if they did that more, because having to do new one usually adds 2 months to processing. I read in another forum that they extended someone's medical for 12 months as well.

I agree. I think they extened it without telling him as well.

My husbands medical was extended for 12 months without them telling us. We only found out through the most recent GMCS notes we ordered. His medical is now valid til Aug 2014 and I think the date Khilo filed their application is close to the same as ours

Wow! Really this immigration system is so crazy...late updates, no updates. People who apply months after us getting their files finished and we are still waiting.

I need some advice please.

In November I submitted some additional documents to Cairo at their request. At the time i also included a copy of my plane ticket to see my husband (6 week stay starting today).

Since that time we received the request for new police certificates and my husband and I had a long talk and decided to cancel/postpone my trip for now. We did this cuz this trip would take all my husbands savings and all my vacation time for one year and we want to have this time for when he comes to Canada. If his application is not complete by March we will rebook the trip. We did not get a refund for our flight, we received a credit that is good for one year (which we can use to visit Egypt if hubby lands before March)

Should I write a letter to the Embassy explaining we cancelled my trip and why and send the airline credit? I am worried they may stop processing our file cuz they think we together or if they see I didnt go they will think something bad.

Any advise would be appreciated! Thank you

im sure it wont hurt to explain that, just let them know exactly what u just said here you dont have anything to lose. having the credit is a good sign still because you can still use it, you wouldnt just throw that money away, plus they cant just stop processing because they assume something bad happend between you two.

My husband received an email from Cairo today requesting his passport!! They are ready to issue his Visa!!
The long wait is finally over. Interview was waived and his Visa is good until Aug 30, 2014 (when his meds expire).

We are so happy. Thank you to everyone here for your help and support!
