CIC is very keen on approving the application first. Other processing stages will take place at their convenience because they have loads of applications to process. There is absolutely no ill will or purposeful postponement of your application. This will never happen in CANADA. They will take first come first serve policy irrespective of what nation you come from or what tradition you belong. Wish you all the best

How long does it take for getting passport back? Booked and paid $1500 for a trip to Orlando (Dec 20,2013).

It totally depends on who is gonna do that, sometimes a week or less and sometimes more than a month!
By the way who is your case analyst?
