I applied April 2011, so which MI I'm classified under?
But sorry I didn't get it for the GCMS and CAIPS? I only check my status on e-case (CIC check my application status)
So is GCMS and CAIPS different? if so Pls what's the links and how can I registered?

I believe you are MI3 Caips notes or GCMS are the notes of all the status of you file it shows when itwas last opened by a officer, what has been done and whats left
you have order that
I actually have no idea on how to order it since I never did

Hi folks

Checking this forum after long time, I am FSW1, MI-3 applicant, app receipt date 6th July 2011. remaining details in profile. I understand all Buffalo VO applicants struugling with long time lines.

I havn't submitted PCCs along with application as PCCs should be latest while reviewing the application at VO, since all Buffalo application moved to CPP-Ottawa, do I need to wait till they request PCCs or I can submit them before hand, I yet to apply for them and it may take 2 months to get it. Please suggest what needs to be on this PCCs.

I think Marmar's post above just proves the last few posts wrong. As you can see Marmar is a post June 2010 applicant and he has received his PPR. I'm guessing post june 2010 is MI-02? So if everyone reads the grey highlighted section with a red border on the Ottawa page in the FAQ's section....it states, to meet current labour demands they will be processing both.....BUT MI-01 as it was a broad MI, will take longer to process in some cases.


He has job offer, just like Nadeem, those who have job offer have faster process in comparison to those who dose not. This is what my MP said.

Thats true. I have a job offer also with one of Canada's biggest construction companies....applied in Aug 2011....I'm hoping i hear something in the next couple months.

I've got a job offer too. Applied in Dec. 2010 and I haven't heard from CIC. My MP said my application should be done close to the summer. I'm not so sure that having a job offer speeds up the process...

I got back from MP saying that the background check is in process. Does that mean they started reviewing my file? Hopefully I will get some good news soon.

What´s your timeline? My MP said the same thing. But then I ordered CAIPS and my file hasn´t been touched since early 2012, before Buffalo was shut down.

quick question, do you guys know if what is done first "Medical exam" or "Background check", i got an email from the CIC saying that my wife's medical results are received and now in the system so i'm wondering what is the next step (i already paied the last PR fees as they requested them).
Also any ETA?

So my MP's office got back to me today regarding my application. So they have promised that my case will be finalized no later then December 2013. It could be before but the lastest would be at the end of this year. This wasn't what i wanted to hear to be honest. but lets hope it gets finalized sooner.

Hello Friends,

Joining this thread to gather some information and prepare myself before I apply for BOWP. Although I never thought that I would have to. I filed my FSW2 in June 2011, Buffalo office hoping that I will get my PR by 2012. But with the closure of Buffalo office, its not even started.

I applied under CEC in jan 2013 and my work permit expiring Oct 2013. So apparently my both PR application do not seem to get approved by Year end and that is why I am here.

Please not that I have passed the AOR stages in both the cases.


I have following two questions to start with - more will come when I go throught the instructions booklet.

1. My wife and son is also with me so when I apply for BOWP, I should include their application as well. My wife should get Open wp and my son should get Visitors Visa.
2. As my wp is valid until oct so I will be submitting BOWP application in June. My wife's passport is valid until feb 2014. Do you think her Open work permit will not be issued for 1 year but upto Passport validity date.

If I were you, I would start to process and send them to Ottawa ASAP. They might delay your processing if needed and are not in file.
