Strange request

My processing had just started in buffalo and I got this unexpected request.
They have asked me to submit my FBI `no record` or `good conduct` certificate.
I have never stayed in USA for more than 10-15 days in a row but visit there every 5-7 months for work and vacations in last few years (I stay in Toronto) and I do not recall having done anything to have a negative police record in US
I am quite surprised to get this request - has anybody else had similar request?
Also, it looks like I need to get a finger print before requesting the FBI report - where should I do that? (may be Toronto police in college street ???)
Do I need to have FBI send my report directly to the Canadian consulate or should I request them to send it to me first ?
Your advise on any or all of my questions or your experience in related matter is much appreciated !

Don't worry , everyone is asked FBI clearance now

Even I was asked , I am frequent visitor just like you.

Take finger prints on FBI card from any finger printing agency and send to FBI
You will find the details on cic website .search police clearance US.

Follow the instructions also send covering letter that you need FBI certificate for Canadian immigration.

1- Get cover letter from FBI website. Print it out after typing your information on it. Here's the link for that Letter:

2- Print out the Finger Print Form. Ink your finger prints on it (rolling your fingers side/side). Here's the link for that Form:

3- Get $18 Money Order/Cashier's Check.


Mail everything to FBI at:

FBI CJIS Division – Record Request
1000 Custer Hollow Road
Clarksburg, WV 26306


Won't take more than 45 days (normally) to get it back (To You- that's what you need- so you can mail it to Canadian office Yourself)

I was just wondering how much usually does it takes to get the Passport Request after the medical is done and sent to Ottawa. Seniors who already got PPR please advise.. your help is appreciated. My medical was done in mid march 2012.

Im guessing- everyones done with Meds and waiting on PPRs - like myself. Am i wrong?
