Appreciates some insights on the situation I’m having.

I submitted my PR Application under PNP back in November 2024. I still haven’t received AOR but I received a temporary file number via email from IRCC for my PR application. My current work permit expires in September 2025. I’m planning to apply for a bridging open work permit. Is it possible to apply for a BOWP with the temporary file number provided or must I wait for the AOR to come?

No, you can't apply for BOWP with temporary AOR. You need actual AOR . You can apply for closed work permit with help of your employer and WPSL from province .

@Miss bee
I'm planning to apply for BOWP for myself, OWP extension for my spouse and SPs extenstion for my kids in one single application.

- My PGWP, Spouse's OWP and kids SPs expires in November 2025
- Our PR application in progress; AOR, PAL, medical and bio-metrics all done (more details in my signature).

I have a few questions and would highly appreciate your response:
1. Is it OK to apply now given I have 6 months for our permits to expire? I believe there was a rule in place earlier to apply if the permit expiration is due in 4 months or less.
2. Should I answer 'Yes' to the questions "I am applying for an open work permit under an active public policy or pilot program announced by IRCC" and "a person who applied for permanent residence to an office in-Canada and was determined to be eligible for permanent resident status (first stage approval)"
2. Am I and/or my family members exempt from paying the application fee? The total fee for the for a family of 4 is coming to CAD 810 (combined holder and processing fees for all). Or is it safe/better to just pay the whole fee and IRCC will refund the holders fee if they deem fit.

Thank you!

1. You can apply whenever you want before the expiration date. There's no strict rules about that.

Thanks for the quick response, @CanGoldDigger . Would you be able to help answer the rest of my questions as well please?

Answer YES here if you are applying for BOWP . Make sure you attach copy of AOR , expired nomination certificate and WPSL with your application and there should be no employer restrictions on your nomination certificate.

Best is to pay all fees . They will refund if it doesn't apply to you or your family.

@Miss bee Hi Miss Bee, maybe you can guide me better. I have got my nomination from Manitoba, already applied for PR non express entry. Haven't got the AOR yet and work permit is going to expire in August 2025. What are the options?

I can see the previous comment that I cannot apply for BOWP without AOR. and if I apply for WPSL from Manitoba, will the work permit i will get after is open or close?

If I get close work permit, how will I extend my spouse permit based on that?
