Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi Palu, Thanks for sharing your experience.

I am preparing the docs to bowp and apply online. I have a two questions.

1. Is the Schedul1 document a mandatory one for BOWP? in my application it is shown as optional. I thought,we used to fill schedule 1 while apply / extend TRV.

2. Final one in your document list - Explaination Letter + AOR Letter + Valid WP + Additional Sheet about Employment togather as one PDf
i mentioned the current job offer as NO and employement details as Not applicable, should i still attach any information about employment?

It would be helpful if you could respond. Thanks.

Hi Guys,

First of all, thank you all for your help !!! You are doing very good job. Helping many unknown guys including me.

I have been reading post on this form and submitted my CEC application on May 23rd, 2014. Received AOR on July 8th, 2014. Submitted BOWP application online on July 28th, 2014. Checked application status today (August 11th) and found that application is approved. It took only 15 days though CIC website says 24 days. Now waiting for hard copy of the BOWP and VR for kids. Wanted to update my experience with BOWP, it might help some of you.

Principle Applicant (me) - Documents provided for BOWP:
(1.) IMM5710E - Main Application. Answers to 2a & 2b - Not Applicable - BOWP. Q3 thru Q7 - Blank.
(2.) Passport Copy except blank pages.
(3.) Marriage Certificate
(4.) IMM 5713E - Use of Family Member Rep Form
(5.) My Photo
(6.) IMM5257B - Schedule 1
(7.) Explaination Letter + AOR Letter + Valid WP + Additional Sheet about Employment togather as one PDf

Spouse Application for BOWP - Documents submitted:
(1.) IMM5710E - Main Application. Answers to 2a & 2b - Not Applicable - BOWP. Q3 thru Q7 - Blank.
(2.) Passport Copy except blank pages.
(3.) Medical Proof. It was about to expire in September 2014
(4.) IMM5257B - Schedule 1
(5.) Same Explaination Letter + AOR Letter + Valid WP togather as one PDf

Child - Visiting Record Extension
(1.) IMM5708E - Main Application
(2.) Passport Copy except blank pages.
(3.) IMM5257B - Schedule 1
(4.) Same Explaination Letter + AOR Letter + Valid WP togather as one PDf

My wife was on Visitor Visa earlier and now submitted for BOWP togather. I didn't provide photos for spouse and child because I could not find place to upload online but explained it in the explaination letter that I can provide in email if needed. They didn't ask for any photo. Both BOWPs and child Visitor extension approved for one year.

I just want to share my experience guys. I have used information provided on this form and it works fine. Good luck to all who have applied and Congrats to all who have received.

Thanks
Palu
All the dependent documents are filled by you only.Should we take signature of spouse after filling IMM5710E.

Just want to give update to forum member. Just like Pal2014,

My work permit expired on Aug 8, 2014.

I applied for BOWP using the same step by step method described by Pal2014, except no spouse application at Jul 21st, 2014.
My BOWP is closed & approved today Aug 13, 2014. Just need to wait for the actual copy of the permit now.

Thanks!

Wow, that is fast! I applied online on August 4. Do you think I should expect answer soon? Did you receive any email during the process or just final, that Your BOWP has been approved?

I am on my Post Graduate work permit. I got AOR for my CEC application . My PGWP is getting expired after a month and I want to apply for Bridging open work permit. My question is, in the application form, they have asked several questions, for which I am confused. Questions are:

- Question no 3: I am applying for one or more of the following: which one to choose?
- a work permit with the same employer
- a work permit with the new employer
- a temporary resident permit
- restoration of your status as a worker

-Question for Intended work in Canada: Do we need to fill in for Employers details for Question 2-7?

Q3: choose either WP with same employer, or with new one - doesnt realy matter since you're applying for open work permit

Q for Intended work in Canada: just leave it blank, or write down "applying for Bridging Open Work Permit" in any field

Hello ljilika007,

There was no email from CIC. I just happened to check the status and there was the update about the approval.

Keep checking your CIC account and the good news would be in shortly for you as well.

Good luck to you.

Hello everyone,

This is my first time on the group and it is great to see the discussions here and the level of cooperation shown by the members! :)

I got my PR file number in March 2014. I am planning to apply for a Bridge Open Work Permit this week as I want to change my employer. However my current closed work permit expires in November 2015 (valid for more than 4 months). I know that the rule to apply for the Bridge permit is that the current permit validity should be less than 4 months, but I am still willing to apply.
My questions are:

1. Has anyone here applied for the bridge permit with the current permit being valid for more than 4 months? If your application was accepted, can you please share the reasons you mentioned in the supporting letter?

2. If my bridge permit gets rejected, does it have any impact on my current permit?

3. If my bridge permit gets rejected, does it have any impact on my PR application?

4. Is there any other way to get an open work permit? My main objective is to change my employer but I am on a closed permit.

Apologies if these questions have been answered before. Thanks for all your help. :)

People who reported getting their BOWP despite the four-month rule usually had some kind of hardship, with losing their job through no fault of their own and other factors. And either the VO was sympathetic to this, or perhaps they were caught napping and didn't check all of the criteria.

These cases were mostly before OB485a (September 2013) which restated the four month rule in more explicit terms. Whereas before, the rules said you are eligible if you have four months or less on your permit, they now also say that you are not eligible if you don't have four months or less on your permit. Obvious perhaps...

Really the BOWP was designed to spare everyone the hassle of a new LMO application, for people who were approaching the end of their LMO and likely to become permanent residents anyway. It wasn't really intended to help people change to a nicer job - it doesn't even address all cases where a foreign worker might have to return home to await their PR approval - though these can be nice side effects.

In your case it's probably worth a try anyway! It's only money. But definitely have a plan "B". 8)

No and no - you haven't misrepresented anything or committed an offense.

There could be, if you are one of these groups - Who can apply for an open work permit? (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=177&t=17)
