Hello ljilika007,

There was no email from CIC. I just happened to check the status and there was the update about the approval.

Keep checking your CIC account and the good news would be in shortly for you as well.

Good luck to you.

In your case it's probably worth a try anyway! It's only money. But definitely have a plan "B". 8)

Thank you LPS for the detailed reply. :) Good catch on the change of wording in the rule!

Truly appreciate your patience! :D

So i received the new work permit in the mail today. But i still have questions.

What is the next step to get my passport stamped? Will they send another package in the mail with instructions?

Also can i start working for a new employer immediately, or do i have to go to Service Canada to get my SIN card extended?

Hi guys,

Can you guys help me?

I'm applying for my bowp with a paper based application as I still have not received my AOR.. I just want to confirm what documents I need to send to Vegreville?

I currently have the filled out application, document checklist, copy of passport, copy of work permit.. Is there anything else I need??

Also i know i need an explanation letter but just want to confirm do you refer to OB485A since its expired??

I appreciate any help..

Thanks!!

Shuggzz

^ The former OB485A was absorbed into the manual, so it probably doesn't make sense to continue to refer to OB485A.

You should explain that you are applying for a bridging open work permit, that you are eligible for it as a Canadian Experience Class applicant, and request that they verify a 'positive eligibility decision' has been made on your application.

Apart from that - if you were able to provide all the documents the checklist asked for, I can't think what else you would need...

People who reported getting their BOWP despite the four-month rule usually had some kind of hardship, with losing their job through no fault of their own and other factors. And either the VO was sympathetic to this, or perhaps they were caught napping and didn't check all of the criteria.

These cases were mostly before OB485a (September 2013) which restated the four month rule in more explicit terms. Whereas before, the rules said you are eligible if you have four months or less on your permit, they now also say that you are not eligible if you don't have four months or less on your permit. Obvious perhaps...

Really the BOWP was designed to spare everyone the hassle of a new LMO application, for people who were approaching the end of their LMO and likely to become permanent residents anyway. It wasn't really intended to help people change to a nicer job

Well, I changed to a nicer job with my BOWP, and I applied with the new job offer after Sep 2013 with over 4 months on my previous closed WP. I guess I caught the VO napping :D

I haven't been following this thread since, so have there been other cases people got a BOWP with a new job offer and over 4 months on their existing WP?

Yes and more power to you :) Which is why I said it was worth a try... others haven't been so lucky.

Hello,

I got my BOPW in mail. It is valid for a year.... :D
