Just heard about CIC introducing cap on PR applications under CEC. Not sure if any possible changes on BOWP policy on the way or not !!

No changes in the OB485 so far.

New processing estimates - down to 18 days (!) for online applications, while paper applications remain steady at 54/65 days.

Alright, CIC, we get it. "Don't send paper applications".

Haha ::) Yes, why would we?! Online's more convenient and apparently there's a lot of staff allergic to paper at CIC lol

To be honest, I had to apply for the BOWP well before my AOR arrived.

So if it was a race between the AOR people and the BOWP folks, I wanted to give the AOR people a head start. 8)

AOR processing times are getting significantly shorter as well, we're down to 46-47 days right now, from 62 days about 2-3 weeks ago.

Interesting. I'm guessing CPC-Vegreville is snowed under, but the online applications are handled elsewhere.

What I think is that online applications are not processed at a specific office, but wherever officers are free
to process applications, as those applications are accessible from any location. Tapping in the dark tho, I don't have
information proofing that point.

Hi Seniors

Just received my AOR today - but my closed WP is valid for 9 more months. Anyone has any good idea of approaching for a BOWP (and getting it) in such a case.

Somebody in this thread mentioned that having a job offer is a sure shot chance of getting a BOWP even when more than 4 months is left on the WP - any thoughts on this?

Thanks

There's no sure shot. With the new OB485 chances that you get your BOWP approved are next to nothing.
If you don't want to risk spending money I suggest to wait until you become eligible.

Hi

Any BOWPs with more than 4 months validity. Please update.

I have not seen even a single successful BOWP applicant with more than 4 months validity. Please guide/redirect me to someone who was successful.

Reason: I will get full confidence with my application.

Thanks & regards,
Kunishsa

The ruIle says you should have 4 months within the expiry date to apply to get BOWP. PR approval is still based on your current employer's eligibility and your candidacy by said employer.

OB485A clearly set 4 month approval/refusal criteria. You might try to apply but based on my own experience you will most likely just throw away CAD 150 if you will apply for BOWP within next 5 months...

Hi I applied for BOWP through paper application around 1.5 months ago . My work permit is about to expire in 3 weeks. I am hoping that it will come before my WP expiry . But just in case it doesn't come Am I on " implied status " . Like can I continue to work for same employer one my current Work Permit expires.

Whole thing was little confusing between same employer and " new employer " In the end I just selected "new employer" in my work permit extension form .

Can somebody confirm me whether I would be in implied status here ??

Yes, you are on implied status after your current WP expires in case the new one has not been approved yet.

Hi everyone,

This is the first time I've posted here and I've been following this thread since my girlfriend submitted her BOWP application.

Just a bit of background, my girlfriend submitted her PR application under CEC around May 2013 but it was returned due to a missing document. After attaching the missing document, the application was sent back to CIC on 7th June 2013. Her PGWP was expiring on 29th June 2013 and she received her AOR on the 30th July so she missed the window to submit her BOWP application at that time. In the meantime she received her visitor's visa to allow her to stay in Canada. Whilst researching the forums, we came across a thread where an application was approved even after their working permit expired which gave us hope that her application which was submitted on the 1st August 2013 might get approved if she submitted a cover letter explaining the circumstances. (Had we known that we could of submitted the BOWP application prior to receiving the AOR we might have been just in time before her PGWP expired) Today she received a refusal letter, after more than 3 months and I guess they are really following the strict rules set in the updated bulletin even though she applied before the update. Her previous employment would not provide a LMO however they are willing to offer her job back once she obtains the necessary documents.

We would appreciate any feedback on what else she could do, perhaps submit a job offer from the company? or is there nothing else she could do but wait for her PR?
