me and my husband got BOWP approved on Nov 1 (applied on Oct 8). In the approval doc, it says the type is "Permit - WP-EXT / Permis - PT-PROR"
and our PR application is under CEC.

Oh sweet. I think mine is BOWP too then.
Thanks Ashu146 for your input and to everyone in this thread. I got some good info from here when I applied for BOWP.

Cheers and Best Wishes!!

I applied for BOWP on Sept 26th.

Received request to submit employment contract & employment letter from company on Oct 29th

Submitted scanned copies on the evening of Oct 29th

I log in now, it says "provided" on both docs

But I did NOT receive a message from CIC confirming this submission

What's happening?

And seems everyone else has obtained theirs who applied after me...

I'm very confused, any help?

Thanks

This is strange, for BOWP we are not required to submit contract and employment letters. Did you mention in your application that you were apply for BOWP ? Could you please confirm the below items ?

1) Is your current WP valid for more than 4 months ?
2) Did you opt 'Open Work Permit' in your application ?
3) Did you mention "Same Employer" or "New Employer" in your application ?
4) Did you include any covering letter that you are requesting for BOWP though you had a current WP which is not expiring in 4 months and you would like to change the current job ?

I guess you put employer details but didn't provide supporting documents and that's why they asked for it. I am sure when it shows "provided", it means they received it.
I would suggest you to call CIC and see if you can find out more about the status of your application.

I understand this is CEC thread but just to inform people who are interested...

I received the following email from BC-PNP when I asked about switching employer once I received BOWP.

"As you are aware, the BC PNP is joint application process between the applicant and employer. You were approved based on the assessment of your current employer. If you choose to move to another employer, you will need to have that employer submit the application form and be re-assessed.

The choice is yours with an open work permit to stay or re-apply with a new employer.

The time frame to re-assess the application would be both from the BC PNP side as well as CIC side. I am unable to provide an approximated time line for this, unfortunately.
As such, it would be recommended to remain with the current employer until the application for PR is complete. However, as mentioned, the choice is yours. "

From this reply I guess I wouldn't need an LMO but I would have to go through the reassessment process if I choose to switch my employer. *sigh*.
Now who is gonna take that risk and delay the PR process even if the new employment is better than the current one. I think since its a new permit, PNP officials are confused. They don't really know how to apply this to PNP candidates.

According to my experience BOWP doesn't really help PNP-PR candidates. If we are suppose to stay with current employer why give us Open work permit.

Hi Guys!

Received BOWP today 5 November by mail but was notified at MyCIC that it was approved on October 30, 2013. I applied on October 1, 2013 with Open work permit application for my wife and temporary resident visa for my kid.

Thanks for this forum.

Finally received the "BOWP Approved" document in MyCIC today. My BOWP and my spouse's OWP have both been approved. Thanks to this forum.

Here are my timelines:

Applied for BOWP on 11th Oct 2013. Received the approval document in MyCIC on 6th Nov 2013. Approval document issued on 4th Nov, 2013, valid till 4th Nov, 2014

Hey Bhavik...I forgot to ask you one more important thing....Are you staying here as Bachelor or are you staying here with your family? All my colleagues who are married and applied for BOWP got it within 35 days and the only bachelor who applied for BOWP was rejected. Though all my colleagues applied before 19th Sept, 2013. That is a different story. Can you compare this criteria to you and your friends and let me know. Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks & regards,
Kunishsa

Hi, Yes I am Bachelor. As you know my case, I applied BOWP 8+ months before my current WP ends, it got rejected. My two friends applied same way (8+ months before) and got through because they attached offer letter saying their current work is ending and they have offer after that. I doubt being Bachelor/Married has anything to do here...Although I know there was a change to BOWP criteria after 19th Sep and <4 months criteria become strict now. Please note that my friends which I am referring above applied long back (June 2013). One was single and One was with Family.

LOL. There's no special treatment for families. It is probably that most applicants have family of some kind, although there's no sure way of knowing this.

Thanks a lot Bhavik for your reply.

Yes it sounds funny. But all my colleagues who are married got their BOWPs and the only bachelor who had applied for BOWP got a rejection. We try to figure out the reasons ourselves and were satisfied with bachelor / family explanation because all the family guys kept an explanation about their Kids and education of the kids.

Received my BOWP in mail today.

Well, at least the paper ones aren't any slower than they were...

Personally I am OK to wait another 80 days too, if there is anyway to get my positive BOWP processing :)

On a suggestion from the CIC call centre, I sent in the passport pages (the ones with the stamps) that I neglected to include in my BOWP application, along with an explanation letter and delivery details of the original application, in the hope that they can do me a favour and attach them.

I'm almost positive that this will not work, but it's worth a try, right?
