Hi All,

Will the Strike impact BOWP processing ? Any idea.

as per the CIC webiste
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/index.asp

Alert – Strike Action

The Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) union is currently taking strike action. PAFSO union members responsible for processing visa applications have been walking out of offices in Canada and overseas.

Posted processing times for both temporary and permanent resident visa applications do not take into account work stoppages.

Anyone applying for a visa should anticipate delays and submit their application as far in advance as possible.

Contingency plans are already in place to ensure all offices remain open and are providing at least a minimum level of service. Priority will be placed on urgent humanitarian applications.

CIC continues to closely monitor the situation.

I am applying for BOWP - Open Work Permit for myself and I need to extend my wife's and my son's status as well?

I do see following option while answering some of the questions?

Apply for or extend both a work permit and study permit? - Can I go for this option for my wife?

Has anybody tried it ?

For BOWP application - Do we need to send Photographs as well?>

Hi

This question is for the people who have received their BOWP's.

Just wondering if anyone can let me know what happens AFTER you receive your BOWP in the mail? How do you get the new visa stamp in ur passport? Can u flagpole it to the nearest border? Or do u have to send another app for a TRV?

Only if you apply online. If you apply via regular mail your signatures on the forms are sufficient.

Can you please share Photo specification as well? We need to upload Digital image for BOWP application as welll?

I just received an approval email for the BOWP, but one thing that concerns me is that confirmation letter -- which you can find on the MyCIC home page -- shows that it's valid to June 2014, whereas my current PGWP expires August 2013. This puts me at a 10 month extension, effectively.

Obviously, I'm hoping that my PR application is approved well before then (Oct 2012 applicant), but has anyone else experienced this? I'm thinking of getting in touch with CIC and getting this sorted out once I receive the document.

thanks....but im just wondering....is a trv only required for certain countries? if my nationality (irish) is not on that list of countries, then do i need a trv at all? is the work permit enough by itself?

yes it is a one year OWP because you got approve on June valid till next June ,ie 1 year..it is not that you will get till next August that means they need to issue a 1 year 2 months permit. BOWP maximum is 1 year.
