I have applied for BOWP on 21st Jan 2014 ( online ) .. still waiting for any update. Anyone else waiting for BOWP approval ?

I applied online on the 23rd Jan, no update since then. Hopfully next week.

Thank you HoneSingh, so relieved, maybe they change UCI with every new passport as my old passport was expired so I sent them new one,

Yes, it happened with me.

Different UCI Number on second work-permit, but not on BOWP.

I have called cic and verified if there will be any issue in future, they said it's totally fine and just use the new UCI for all your future applications.

I also have a new passport, but my UCI stayed the same.

Its guss not related with the Passport, it could be someother else.

As I mentioned my client ID has beed changed for the Second WOrkpermit, no way related with the Passport.

How likely is a BOWP application without AOR? Sent my CEC application 2 weeks ago, just wondering if it's worth applying for the BOWP before I receive AOR. I noticed some people have had positive results with this.

Not likely at all. Rules were revised and chances are your application will be refused. Burns down to money, if you can afford a refusal, you
can go ahead and apply. If you want to play it safe, wait for AOR and wait until you become eligible for the BOWP.

On the processing times... do we count weekends or just weekdays???

Finally I've got enough time to sit down in front of my laptop so I've applied online yesterday (Feb 8th) for the followings:
- BOWP for myself
- OWP for my wife
- extend Visitor Record for my daughter

I sent all together, it was really easy!
I went to check my eligibility first where I gave all the details about myself and my family. At the end I've got my personal checklist code.
Then I logged in to MyCIC and uploaded all the forms what was in my checklist and all the required documents, then payed the fees online and done.

I'll keep you updated. ;)
Have a nice day to all of you!

Hi,

There was lot's of saying about this before but I'm trying to summarize shortly:

IMM5710E - Application Form for BOWP

Question 3 - I am applying for one or more of the following:
"An Initial work permit or a work permit with a new Employer" (as I know you can select the same employer too, but it's always OPEN Work Permit!!!)

DETAILS OF INTENDED WORK IN CANADA:
1) - Open Work Permit
2. a) and 2. b) - "Bridge Open Work Permit - NOT APPLICABLE"
3. to 7. - Blank

Hope this helps.

Hello Guys,

Can someone please tell me what will happen in following cases:

1) If someone applies for BOWP and leaves Canada.
- Will he be able to come back if his BOWP application is approved?
- If i leave before i receive the BOWP via mail, will it be ok if my relatives send me the BOWP to me via mail after they receive it? and will i be able to use that WP to enter canada?
2) Suppose I have received BOWP, Can i go out of Canada and come back?

Thanks in advance.

Hi kunwar,
Even with a valid WP, you will need a visa re-enter in Canada if your are not from a visa exempt country. So, I advise you to get first a visitor visa before you leave ( you can also get the visa from your home country Canadian embassy). A work permit be it a BOWP or not is not a travel document.

Thanks for your reply.

So in case the VISA stamped on my passport is valid when i travel back and if i have BOWP, I should be fine.
Is my understanding correct?

Yes, you should fine even if even there if you don't have BOWP. But someone else could confirm this.

Hi all,

just want to share my experience... I have applied for PR in CEC and received medical request. I have my current WP expiring Dec 2014.
I applied for BOWP explaining my personal situation and also provided a copy of AOR. But it got rejected saying below 2 reasons. :(

You have not provided evidence that you have received a positive eligibility decision on your PR
application.
You do not have a work permit that was due to expire within 4 months of the date you submitted
your application.

Hope this info helps.
