You don't have to change it anywhere. That's why they call it as "Implied" status. It's implied that your status is valid until a decision is made on you BOWP application

I am trying to apply open WorkPermit through BOWP channel and there are couple of questions that are confusing me...

One of the question is

Is your family member staying in Canada for more than 6 months AND has lived in one or more designated countries or territories for more than six months in the last year?

- Yes my family member have lived more than 6 months ...bit they have not lived in the designated countries more than 6 months in the last year.

In that case, I guess the answer is NO.

Please help!

Your application should be received by CIC before your current WP expires. I suggest, do not walk on the edge. Either way, why dont u submit an online application?

I do wanna submit my application online but not sure if its a good idea to do that without the AOR?

Lol your comment actually made me look for the Deep Ahuja you were talking about but no luck. And if I was him I wouldn't be here now would I? Plus I am sure I am way better looking than him...haha !!

Your status automatically changes to "implied" once they receive your request for the BOWP while you still hold a valid work permit - correct? Or did I miss something and we need to actually officially change it to "implied status" somewhere?

Yea I didn't mean that CIC will change it, I know it will change automatically as soon as they receive it. Sorry if it confused you.

Well... Some of us (including myself) have to do it that way because we're running out of time. My CEC application was only received on April 29 by CIO, but my current WP expires on the 24th... So I'll be applying for the BOWP without AOR, but with a letter explaining that I should receive the AOR "soon". By the time they open my file it should be past those 40 days anyway - at least that's what all the experts here on the forum told me :D

I understand your situation and if I was you I would have done the same. I am preparing a paper application by myself just in case I don't receive my AOR in time. Anyways good luck to both of us.

Cheers

Fingers crossed! :)

You will be fine guys. As long as you apply and the mail gets delivered at CIC before your WP expires - you are in the 'fine' territory.

You know you'll be in trouble if it ends up not being fine, right! ;)

I am in the same boat on my visa runs out the same day I can apply for BOWP so im going to do it via paper to help buy me some time so that I get the AOR.
Question - how long should I give myself to post it so that they get it in time before my visa runs out? Is there a fast posting option and if so does anyone know how long it takes and the cost?
Thanks

LCM - Yes, specially since i told you where i live, damn! lol - when are u planning to visit TO?

Naah. its going to be allll goood.

BritGirl - there is a Priority (1-2days) service from Canadapost - may cost you around $40 - you will know the exact cost at post office.

Just make sure that it reaches 2-3 days before the date of your WP expiry - Canadapost will update you the delivery time and also the signature of the receiver (if you chose the signature option). As long as that happens before your WP expiry - you are good. Double check this CIC call center.

I am mailing it out about 10 days in advance. I will send it through FedEx, it'll take probably just one day to get to CPC. Just check with a courier and make sure CPC receives it before your current WP expires.
