Hi guys,

One quick questions for those who have your visa in hand. After how long of Ecas showing (in process) did you guys get the passport request?

Hi Everyone,

Can someone please help me with this big question?
My wife (sponsor) and I sent our Application on November 21st, 2012. She was accepted as a sponsor last February 23rd, 2013. I received an email last February 27, from the Embassy in Bogotá confirming they had received my application. Everything is ok so far and checking my application status they confirm that it was received as well as the Medical Exams.
I traveled through an exchange program to Germany on February 3rd, 2012 and I am planning to stay here until December (came to obtain international certifications in German and French).
My question is if the fact that I am here may affect my process in Colombia, delaying it in a way. I haven't notified the office since all my contact information (address, phone in Colombia and email) is Active. Do you know if it is true that they may track you down or spy you with secret agents or so? I have heard stories of people feeling they are being monitored on the street and around home. I think they do it. I am concerned about it. The medical exams expire on May 30th, and if I have to go to Colombia to have them updated I will do it, no problem! I am simply worried about being contacted to send my passport or other documents and then I am here. Additionally, if they realize I am here in Germany (they will eventually, they know all about you), will that affect me in a way?

I appreciate your help.

Thank youuuu!!!

Albert.

Hey guys!! Did anyone have to get a police certificate from the fbi!? Immigration is asking my husband for this paper. But they say that he has 60 days to send it. But the fbi website says that it takes from 16-18 weeks to get it! Ugh idk what to do..this is so stressful! If anyone had to get this..how long did it take you to get it? Thanks

Karenesp29, I was asking because I wondered how hard it is to prove that a couple living in Colombia will move back to Canada. I don't have a job offer (teaching jobs are slim), so I'm a bit worried they won't believe me. I do have a home, savings, letters from family members, and I so badly want to go back that I hope they got that from our application. Best of luck!

I shouldn't be a problem. I've been living in Colombia for over 2 years with my wife, and I don't have a home or a job in Canada, just a bit of savings and letters from family, and we were approved no problems. You should be fine

Can't help you with that, but here's what I would do. As soon as you order the fbi report, send the receipt or confirmation to Bogota with a note saying that the report has been ordered, but it could take up to 16-18 weeks. That should be acceptable to the Visa Office.

Hi and welcome to the forum

First of all, CIC doesn't send people to spy on applicants. It just doesn't happen. The fact that you're in Germany shouldn't affect your application, but you need to inform CIC that you are there, explaining the circumstances, that your contact information in Colombia is still active and that they can continue to communicate with you via email. If you don't tell the Visa office you're in Germany, this could be taken as misrepresentation and your application denied. It is always best to be completely honest about all travels and places lived. It shouldn't affect your application in any way. But since you will be in Germany for more than 6 months, you will be required to submit a police certificate from Germany as well. If you need to get your medicals renewed, you don't need to go back to Colombia to do that. You can use a Panel Physician in Germany, no problems.

So for now, send a Case Specific Enquiry to Bogota, or email, WITH YOUR APPLICATION NUMBER, explaining that you're temporarily in Germany on an exchange program, and when you intend to return. They will then likely ask you to update the form that lists the places where you have lived, and also ask you to get the Police Certificate from Germany.

Hope that helps

good advises about the police certificates, ccunnington :)

on the application form IMM0008, #12, the applicants has to list:
-ALL PREVIOUS COUNTRIES HE/SHE LIVED IN THE PAST FIVE YEARS MORE THAN 6 MONTHS-

the application guide is clearly saying, to provide POLICE CERTIFICATES for ANY countries you lived in

not doing it at the beginning will just cause delays later, because they will ask for it
