You can order GCMS notes as often as you want. From what most people say on the GCMS thread, it doesn't affect your application or delay it.

our medicals will expire in the middle of March
if they issue a visa in the usual 2-3 weeks time, it will be very tight to make it to the entry point

we decided to use Servientrega, they have about 15-20 locations all over in Bogota
however, the biggest unknown is, whether the Visa Office would issue the visa, when the 1 year term for the medicals expires before the visa would expire ? (60 days)

I think, I have fund the answer for my previous question:

How long is a permanent resident visa valid?

A permanent resident visa is issued for a period not exceeding the earliest expiry date of the following documents:

the medical results for you and your family members or
your or your family members' passport.

Important information. Permanent resident visas cannot be extended once issued.
If applicants do not use the visas within their validity period, they must re-apply for immigration to Canada.
Their sponsor will have to submit a new sponsorship application and pay new processing fees.


It is NOT VERY LIKELY, that they would issue a VISA with a short 2-3 weeks expiry date
VERY LIKELY they will wait until MEDICALS expired and than ask for a re-do of them
(or if they are nice, they would extend MEDICALS for 30-40 days)

I'm look for advice as to what my next steps should be. My wife and I have been waiting for over 1 year and we have heard nothing from Bogota. Here's where we stand:

I'm sponsoring my Ecuadorian Wife, we sent our application off in October 2011. AOR was emailed Nov 4th 2011 and I received the sponsorship approval letter on Jan 12th 2012 which indicated that the file was forwarded to Bogota.

E-CAS shows application received Nov 4th 2011 (when Mississauga got the file)and that Medical results have also been received. (We did the medical before mailing the application off) shortly after my wife's address was updated but other than that we've had no movement on the file. We haven't received any acknowledgment from Bogota that the file was received nor have we had a request to pay the system service fee.

If I go with the Nov 4th 2011 AOR date from Mississauga that puts us over 15 months now, processing times is listed at 17 months but seeing that her Med's are over 1 year old and they have yet to request the system service fee I can't see her file being completed in 2 months. Do you think I can start making some noise with my MP? Email the embassy? What do you guy's suggest I do? I requested GCMS notes this week.

How are you receiving your communications from Bogota? Email? Phone Calls, regular mail?
