Biometric service available?

Is biometric service open/available for people applying for visitors visa from India to Canada?
What happens if a person is unable to provide biometric, if the application is submitted but the service is not available due to current pandemic situations (and the dates are approaching)? What are the options available?

VACs are not open in India for visitor visa processing. You can travel to another country to do them. Until then your file is on hold. Do you have family in Canada?

The problem is I have already received the biometric request letter, but the appointment site does not accept the application number (says it's invalid). I am not sure if it is because the VACs are closed or something else. I do have a family member in Canada.

It may be because they aren’t processing certain visas. Assume you have written authorization to travel to meet your parent or sibling.

Yes I do have the letter. Do you know what happens in case I am unable to do my biometric because the application site itself is not accepting applications, and the date expires?

Your application is on hold until biometrics are completed. I believe the immigration website states not to worry about expired biometrics letters so check the site for confirmation. When does the travel authorization expire?

VACs have been closed for biometrics for visitors for over a year. Visitors have had to go to Dubai or Nepal but assume that is no longer an option at least for a while.
