Exactly what I was trying to tell our scientist...

I am optimistic about c6 since c4 already scheduled on 1st of feb @ 4pm

Lets watch how it goes

c4 and c6 were delayed a lot

I beleive we need to look specifically for the "Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology"

as per thier roster, there are a couple of meetings scheduled but not related to C-6, see below.

You believe wrong, it is Legal and Constitutional Affairs.

Please verify your information before sharing them here ... C6 is at the Social Affairs , Science and technology committee and so far no meeting scheduled for c6 . It will happen at some point .

#Dementia in Canada: Solutions for a looming crisis #SenCA #InItForAlz #SOCI

It is ironical that the Senate (SOCI committee) is trying to find solutions for dementia. They were suffering from the same issue when they forgot about C6 for six months :)

Haha.....First they have to resolve their member issues so they can remember what they have to discuss next........

I was looking at how long it took for bill C24 to get Royal Assent. Are the dates on LegisInfo correct ? It went from Second reading to Royal Assent within 20 days ?

Anything is possible. But no one can tell you for certain. We're all waiting eagerly ... just wait and see.

Even after C6 gets royal assent, who knows how long it'll take CIC to roll out the changes - new application forms etc.

the connection is simple should you read between the lines .. my message is that a lot were claiming that usually is dual nationals that commit such acts and today we had a proof that all those claims were stupid
I wouldn't call them stupid claims; as it doesn't change the fact a significant number of dual citizens were involved in other acts or attempts. The only silver lining is one can now argue that the culprit will only receive a Court punishment; while if he was a dual citizen an additional punishment would apply to him; i.e. citizenship revocation. Lots for our dear politicians to debate although I hope at these stages the bill should be approved, they already wasted enough time recycling the same arguments.

For everyone following and waiting for updates of the Committee meeting to discuss/vote for C6, here some information on the process from the Senate website:

HOW DO COMMITTEES REPORT BILLS?

When examining a bill, a committee may report the bill without amendment, without amendment but with observations, or with amendment(s) (also with or without observations). Observations are comments made by a committee on a bill without making an amendment to the bill itself. The observations may be those of the majority but may also include those of the minority. If a committee has proposed amendments to a bill, these are considered by the Senate during report stage. If no amendments are proposed, the report is deemed adopted and the bill proceeds directly to third reading in the Chamber.

Yeh. They were eager to pass bill c-24. Unfortunately not for bill c-6
