Once the amended version gets to the HoC, it can be settled by a very quick vote to accept the amendments. It does not need to do the full three readings again.

Exactly. And the government has already stated they welcome the amendment and will do what they can to expedite it when it's referred back to the HoC.

It'll never happen. The minister has already spoken against the amendments. There won't be anything quick about this at all.

They said they were in favour of some elements of improving the process. Not the complete overhaul that was just voted on.

What!! when the Minister ever spoke against the amendment?
Senator Harder, the Government representative clearly said that the government supports the amendment!!

Your information is wrong.

We are around a week away from this leaving the Senate. Considering the amount of time we have spent moaning and complaining on here - I'd have expected a little more enthusiasm. I get the process is painful - but today, we made real progress.

This is simply wrong. You clearly don't know what you are talking about. Both the minister and the government representative in the senate gave generally favourable statements about such an amendment.

The bill made a huge step forward today, progress wise. Not backwards.

Everyone should in fact be very happy right now. This is more progress than we've seen in months.
