Looking at the composition of committee, out of 13 (excl chair and dep chair ), there are 5 conservatives, 2 liberals, and 6 independents. Out of 6 independent senators, Don Meredith will likely be voting against. 2 Independent senators (Ratna Omidvar , and Chantal Petitclerc ) will likely be voting for the bill.
There are no indications of the voting intentions of Senator Don Meredith or any of the other three independents (who did not participate as much as the others to get a slight hint). Watching the meetings on SenVu, Senator Merideth questions and comments did not give a clue where his views lie. He pressed on most subjects quite in the middle. Tomorrow's session outcome is quite unpredictable indeed.

By now, the SOCI committee scheduled a meeting for March 8 on robotics and 3D printing again. That's a good sign, since this means they think that the committee stage is over tomorrow and they'll finish the clause-by-clause consideration by then.

But who knows how long this bill will then chillax in the third reading phase in the senate...

I was at the committee today. Sentiments are in favor. Spoke to the judge, minister, lawyers and senators. It's over all good. I will go again tomorrow. They will ask to include clause of providing judicial hearing and then send it back for approval.

Quick question about C-6. My wife graduate from algonquin college here in ottawa and after her studies she had a postgraduate work permit in march 2014 from CIC. She then became a PR in august (2016). if this law comes into affect, does the postgraduate work permit count for the resident time? and if yes when will she be able to become a citizen with the 3/5 rule to apply for the citizenship ?

If my calculation is right, she should be eligible in January 2019

I think that might not be accurate. Assuming his wife didn't travel outside Canada, She should be eligible on August 2018 (assuming C-6 3/5 rule & pr-PR credit are effective by then)

Wow! Thank you for this very valuable information!
Could you ask them, when it gets Royal Assent, how long do they think it will take before it can be implemented? Could you ask them if they could move implementation for July 1st of this year, maybe? :)

Against: 5C + 1I
For: 2L+2I

So all against need is one out of 3 independent senators to vote against for bill to fail
Possibly these are the votes:

Most importantly, the Minister stated yesterday that he is in the process of reinstating the revoked citizenship of Zakaria Amara using his ministerial discretion, meanwhile he is not waiting for C-6 to be approved or not!!

Therefore, Revoked citizenship beforehand is no longer an obstacle in front of C-6 passage!!!!!

Not sure if the Deputy Chair Art Eggleton can vote like other members or not!

http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/canadian-politics/immigration-minister-defends-legislation-to-prevents-convicted-dual-nationals-from-losing-citizenship

It appears that the minister may consider allowing revoking of citizenship with ability to appeal. Not surprising, when 53% of Canadians polled want the revoking of citizenship to remain in place.

Committee meeting in progress. And Don Meredith is VOTING with the Liberals. They just voted 8/5 to PASS Clause 3. So NO REVOCATION of Citizenship for DUAL Nationals. A Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian.
