You have no idea what are you talking about .. if thats true it should say clearly "This bill comes into force when it receives Royal Assent."

Please dont just spread rumors here .. no body still know when this will come into force ... The date is not clear but it will not be the day of Royal Assent for sure.

My two cents is that after Royal Assent a future date will be set to stop applications in the current process. This is mainly to allow training time for the CO's and also call center representatives. This will take at least 3 months

Yes man, this is a major change .. they cant just apply it immediately .. dont forget they have to update all the stuff online + the forms ...

There is Report Presentation Followed by Third Reading then Royal Assent.

Today there is nothing scheduled for Bill C-24.

The Bill will pass before the end of next week for sure.

Guys do you know if there will be more Committee meetings for Bill C-24 or Yesterday's meeting was the only one? Are they going to the Report Stage or there will be additional meetings before that.

I saw other Bills with 3-4 meetings.

depends if the senate needs to discuss more. anyone listening to the session: did they mention moving to third hearing or motion to allocate more time? usually they mention it at the end of the session.

Yes, but only if the bill passed by the Senate is word for word the same as passed by the Commons; otherwise it goes back to the House to pass the Senate version

There was an observation added .. Regarding the waive of fees for poor people .. thats all.

I watched it .. but I missed the last 10 minutes .. so I don't know if they will have more meetings. From what I saw I dont think so because NDP/Liberal Senate mentioned all the concerns: Intent to reside, Revocation without trial, Pre-PR time. the voting was 7/4 all the time so all the amendments were rejected. even the Conservatives couldn't justify the revocation without proper trial part.

coming into force:
46. (1) Subsection 7(3), section 11, subsections 12(1) and (3), section 13, subsection 16(2) and sections 20, 22, 27 and 41 come into force on a day to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council.

(2) Subsections 2(2), (3), (5), (6), (8), (11), (15) and (17) to (19), 3(1), (2), (4) to (6) and (8) and 4(2), (3), (5), (6), (8), (10) and (11), section 6, subsections 7(1) and (2), section 8, subsections 9(1), (2) and (4), section 10, subsection 12(2), sections 14 and 15, subsections 16(1) and (3), sections 17 to 19, 21 and 23, subsections 24(2) to (6) and sections 25, 28 to 30, 42 and 43 come into force on a day to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council that is made not earlier than one day after the day on which an order is made under subsection (1).

(3) Subsection 24(1) and section 26 come into force on a day to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council.
