Hi guys,

I'm sorry if this been posted before, but everyone's case is different.

I received my ITA for express entry back in April 2017. The only other communication I have received from IRCC was around July 2017 where they asked me to fill out the travel history form (which BTW I had already done online as part of the application). Checking on my account online, my status hasn't budged from "background check in process" for easily 6 months.

I keep emailing them only receive the generic reply stating that my application is in process.

A colleague of mine started his application a month after me and got his PR email back in December.

I'm seriously annoyed at how long this process is and I've just ordered my first set of GCMS notes after reading on here that they help keep people sane during the long wait times.

Any ideas? Any consolations? Anything that might explain this delay will help!

For some ppl ordering GCMS notes helped move their file. Maybe it will help, if not you can ateast know if you are in SS or not.

How long does that process usually take? What does it imply if it's under SS?

It's very individual and varies widely depending on a number of factors including your country of origin, where you've lived/worked, memberships in any organizations, etc. Could take anywhere from a few weeks to over a year.

people under SS are checked throughly and it takes more time. I read somewhere it can take any where between 1-2 years. but i can't be 100% sure. GCMS notes will give you a clear picture.
