Hi Guys,

If anyone has an idea, how much time does the security (background) check step takes for Indian nationals for a PR application filed within Canada? To add a little bit, I have traveled to over 10 countries and wife has lived/traveled to 3 countries.

no certain time frame, but staying in different countries more than six months is further delaying, visit is not issue ,

I am also in the queue, I worked in 7 countries. My medical was done in the end of September 2015. No idea how long this will take place.......
Did you work in 10 countries or just a visit? Looking at your profile, it seems that you have waiting for Passport request for PR since May after completion of Medical !!! Be in touch....Thanks...

this is my file status on e-cas
but the mail is showing that my case is in background checks posted on june, 2015, by the delhi immigration section

In this context, certain background investigations are being conducted in connection with your application. For now, there is no action required on your part. Please be assured that as soon as the checks are completed the next steps in this application will be determined. Until then, we will not be able to provide any additional information on this case.

your case is due at present, I hope all is done, you case is very near to finalization but medical is expired. u have to go for another medical. I would suggest you to order GCMS.

Background checks on the application (completeness, truthfulness, misrepresentation) are done before medicals?
Security checks (criminality, terrorism) are done after medicals?

I'm asking because I got MR (and I was asked to pay the right of PR fee) but haven't had any employer's chceck, any telephonic verification at my workplace. At least none that I know of. This seems quite strange to me.

Your knowledge is very incorrect.

They only contact employer when they have doubt on the material you have provided or they don't see enough evidence.

You should be thankful that your Visa Officer have no doubt on you..otherwise you would not have gotten MR as employer verification takes a hell of time and it's risky as well.

I don't know why people love to see complexities in their process and see easiness as strange!!!

THANK YOU soo much for your reply. The problem is that everyone says different things as to when background checks and security checks are taking place. I was asked to pay the Right of Permanent Residence Fee, so I guess it is a good sign

It's a very good sign indeed. Your PPR is very near

I got my GCMS notes generated on17th Nov 2015.

As per my notes me(PA) and my spouse passed eligibility, criminality and Medical.

But for me (PA) security is blank and for my spouse security not started.

This means that my security in progress and my spouse security will be done after mine?Any idea how long it can take?

My application assignment due date was 28th November. But I am surprised how they can review any file on a Saturday and if it's an off day how they go through those files which are scheduled for an off day
