Although it only took few days to have my passport back after submitting, and other mostly received within 5 working days, but still allow 90 days for them to process base on PPR email, who knows.

I booked my flight right away after VOH just to be sure .

Cheers!
Thanks a bunch. Yes I will wait until we have VOH before booking. It's a little frustrating because the prices keep going up Lol!

Actually I just got an email with instructions that read:

If you are holder of passport(s) from countries whose citizens need an eTA to travel to Canada or a holder of passport(s) from the United States, you will need to submit one photocopy of the photo page and any pages containing amendments of the passport for you and for each accompanying family member. Please do not send your original passport(s). Your passport(s) should be valid for at least 6 months.

And...

STEP 3: PREPARE YOUR DOCUMENTS

1. Passport(s) OR photocopy(ies) of passport(s), as explained in Step 2.

2. Two (2) photos of yourself and of each accompanying family member. See our specifications at www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/pdf/5445EB-e.pdf

3. One pre-paid return envelope so that we can return your passport(s) and Confirmation of Permanent Residence documents. See Step 4 for instructions regarding the return envelope.

So still need send photocopy AND 2 photos?! Then what? Do we have to wait for something after that before we flagpole?

Yeah. And more photos? Not a big deal. BuT I already sent 2 with the proper specifications as well as copies of passport. Oh well, that's what we will be doing tomorrow I guess.

Good for you. Any clue as to how long this process takes? Was really hoping to head for the border early next week to flagpole and to export/import vehicle.

I just got the same email. I'm going to call them up tomorrow. It seems weird you require 2 passport photos. The passport photos should only be required if you have a non visa-exempt passport as they need to print the Visa in your passport. In our case, they have no reason to need the passport photos. Based on what the instructions say (they are poorly worded) we may not need to send the passport photos. I'm going to call and see what they say...I feel the bureaucracy will require them anyways...

No clue. You may want to check in the July thread, or maybe the July spreadsheet reflects the timeline. Some of the people asked for them were U.S. citizens.

What I don't understand is why they ask for them up front and then again. Unless they actually have a use for them during the application process (like as part of our files) rather than whatever they use them for now? I thought they went on the COPR.

Edit: I saw that it mentions more instructions about the prepaid envelope? Would you be able to paste what those are as well? I'm trying to plan ahead so I'd like to know what I'd need to acquire.

Edit 2: Googling further, I found someone from Alberta who mailed that on December 13th and received it back on the 27th. Keep the holidays in mind in regards to that timeline I suppose, but it gives you an idea.

Squeeeeeeeeee!!! So happy for you! Glad I'm not the only one who was like "huh?" Upon reading the email. And there was very specific instructions on attaching the last photos (separate, stapled envelope) so I find it strange that need more.

They need the most recent photos. Also, they use it for the PR Card. The photo you submit now will be the one on your PR Card.

That makes sense. Kind of strange given that in the past it didn't seem to the case that they requested them. Also given how much we paid for the fee I'm shocked they are asking for a pre addressed envelope.

The one upside to that, I guess, is that you can get an envelope that has tracking, whereas the envelope they'd normally mail out wouldn't have that.

I checked the people from September who got really fast approvals (DM in early December). I don't think they had to send photos. I'm wondering if there's a time element involved. Like if the photos are past a certain point, then you get asked for them.
