My friends just received their notes and in it are some notes of “derogatory information” received. Anyone has an idea what this means and how it will affect their citizenship apps? Tnx

To answer that question one might need to understand the context further and what stage the applicants are in and what type of correspondence was received from IRCC

Although the sub status “Client Derogatory Information” is usually indicated in cases of misrepresentation or when additional background checks are required.

Each applicant and scenario is different.. This might be due to criminal activity, suspicion in employment, residence etc.

They are about to submit their apps this month end and have met their residency requirement and never left Canada since landing. They just ordered their notes and are worried with those entries.

They are yet to submit their apps for citizenship and just ordered their notes to review. Do those still pertain to them?

If they applied for notes before Submitting the application, What did they select for :

What type of record would you like to access?

Also it might also depend on how they became PR, the process and checks involved then etc.

If they were previously cleared for background Checks and no adverse history exists since becoming PR until now, they should apply for Citizenship as per normal.

often times there are notes on our file which might not necessarily be relevant to the present application, however what was stated in above paragraph remains.

Thanks ....as it remains, will it affect their citizenship app now when they submit?

As much as anyone would like to provide a positive response to the question, we can never know unless the application is submitted and reviewed.

my suggestion is to submit the application and be as comprehensive as possible, provide additional docs(if available) regarding employment etc. just to be extra cautious.

Again, each applicant is different and so is each scenario. The notes on their file are subjective to their scenario and depending on what they pertain to, might or might not affect their application.
