Be sure to read the declaration card properly and declare whats required, thats pretty much the only way to get in trouble not declaring things.

Not GIC . It is one on which it is written that CBSA will ask this letter at port of entry. If you don't have this letter then they will check your documents and ask questions. If you have correspondence letter, they will just take letter and passport. It's fine either way, no need to worry.
