Congrats! That is really good to know IRCC is slowly back to normal process. During pandemic, most of the cases were processed biometrics first and waited for a long time doing eligibility interview.

I am sure it will happen soon. Keep your hope hight!
For mine, when they send the interview notification, they sent along a copy of GCMS notes, it actually showed they were planning to schedule my interview on June 8th, but then they were waiting for crime records from the other countries I visited before. And it showed every week they were working on something to keep up the progress.

Here is my time-line
Made a claim-April 2020
AOC - few days later
Biometric and passport seized- April 2021 (1 yr later)
Was told will be invited for eligibility interview within 2-4 weeks after Biometric. It's been 8 months since Biometric and 20 months since claim and still waiting for eligibility. Anyone experiencing same?

Do people who cross the border to Canada from US, and have a first degree relative in Canada also have to wait for eligibility interview? Or is it done at the border?

Hi Kabash
I am also sailing in same boat. I had my refugee application in Aug 2020 at Montreal, biometric and passport seizure in March 2021 and there after waiting for eligibility interview. I was enquired with IRCC and they said I was scheduled for eligibility interview twice in Sep / Oct 21 through my epost but I checked I didn’t found any such schedules in my epost. I enquired again and they said just to wait. It’s horrible and terrible for so long time almost now 17 months from date of application. We are family with 4 people. Do anyone with same experience? Anybody getting eligibility interview calls from ircc Montreal ?

No that is not eligibility, you just made a claim. You have to submit basis of claim form ( the evidence) that your lifes in danger.

At border you just made the refugee claim and you have to submit more docs. Then you will sign papers once they call you and then after that based of evidence they might call you for hearing or if you have strong proof they might not even have to do hearing
