As a family member of someone apply for refugee in Canada (I did not apply), can I leave Canada and return with a valid study permit?

Hi there,
One of my immediate family members has applied for refugee status in Canada because the police in her home country are searching for her on religious grounds. I hold a study permit in Canada and did not apply with her because the police were not focusing on me. should be regarded as an independent individual under the law. I would like to know if, under these circumstances, I can travel to Europe during the summer and re-enter Canada without issues. My name was listed along with other family members when she submitted the application.

A valid TRV allows you to be assessed at the border but doesn’t guarantee entry. As the child of someone claiming asylum your TRV could have also been cancelled electronically. As a temporary resident there is always a risk you will not be able to reenter Canada. The safest plan would be to remain in Canada but it is up to you to determine the level of risk you are willing to take.
