As you know, US Senator and Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz was born in Calgary and was thus a natural born Canadian citizen by birth--even though he appeared to be ignorant of the fact until just before launching his Presidential bid. However, due to the nationalist pressures of US Republican politics he applied to renounce his Canadian citizenship and this was approved by CIC last year. His two minor daughters--born outside Canada to a father who was at the time of their birth a Canadian born in Canada--should have themselves acquired Canadian citizenship at birth. Does their father's renunciation of Canadian citizenship while they are minors affect them in any way? Are they still Canadian today?

On paper the rules are same for everyone. Yet in reality rich, famous and powerful bend, break or manipulate rules as it suits them.... :-X

Everywhere in the world, rules are made for ordinary people like us. ;D

Yes, Ted Cruz could not renounce Canadian citizenship on behalf of his children (they would have to do that themselves upon reaching adulthood), so they are still Canadian citizens. Of course, since Cruz didn't seem to realize (and denied) that he was a Canadian citizen, he probably wouldn't understand how his children could be Canadian. The fact that a Harvard-educated lawyer claimed not to be familiar with something so elementary as birthright citizenship should disqualify him from any office.

Yeah, that's what I thought. How long until Trump attacks Cruz for having Canadian children? ;D

Trump has already started attacking the most weakest link of Ted Cruz, his place of birth.

Poor Ted, remained neither here nor been accepted there...... :D :D
