Are background checks completed in the case TRV is refused?

Hi there,

Just wanted to ask whether IRCC completes background check on applicants if their TRV application is refused or do they only conduct background checks if the eligibility is passed?

The application was refused but gckey status shows the background check to be complete. We have a spousal sponsorship application in process so wanted to see if the background check done for this app will help the other. I do understand that BC for spousal is more intensive but hoping to save time anywhere considering our VO hasn't initiated a background check yet and we are past 8 months already.

The biometrics got uploaded to both application profiles as a result of submitting them for TRV.

TRV decisions are not given until background checks are completed. Again, the scope of those checks is different from those for PR apps.

You cannot expedite the processing of your spousal PR app. Just go with the flow
