Hello Friends,

I am in some urgent need of help here. My post graduate work permit expired earlier this year, however, before it expired, I was able to apply for the permanent residence, and a bridging open work permit, and I went on implied status because of this. The PR was refused, and many people have told me that the bridging open work permit will probably be refused as well. Currently, it has not been refused, and my account still says that a decision has not yet been made, so therefore, I am still on implied status. I plan to appeal to have the PR case reopened. However, I want to apply for a visitor visa right now, so that if the bridging open work permit gets refused, I will still have some type of status in Canada while I appeal to have the PR case reopened. I am trying to fill the form for the visitor visa, but it keeps asking me when my status in Canada is expiring. When I punch in the day it expired, it says that the status expired within 90 days, and asks if I want to apply to restore my status. A person cannot restore a post graduate work permit. How do I get past this part of the form, or can I only apply for a visitor visa from within Canada if I currently have a work permit?

This won't work. To apply for the visitor visa, you needed to have submitted the application before your PGWP expired. This is why you are having problems with the form.

If your BOWP is refused, you will need to apply to restore your status to visitor.
