Hi

I have received my immigration visa and i have done my first landing. I have been in touch with many people and they all told me that people have received their PR cards in like 10 to max 15 days this is even as recently as july 2019. So i booked my flight to canada and back in three weeks which should be sufficient. However when i landed in toronto the immigration lady refused to beleive that it takes that much time and instead insisted that it takes a minimum of 6 weeks to 8 weeks and as i will not be staying in canada they cant give me my PR card. i even said that the address is my uncles she still refused. So i asked her if i have to return to canada how do i do so . She replied apply for a Permanent resident travel document (PRTD). Ok now that i am back in India i decided to check out how to apply and the procedure for a PRTD. I got all details at https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...ation-permanent-resident-travel-document.html. Now when i open the document IMM5627 (document checklist) it says that i should provide photocopies showing you meet the residency obligations which i cant as only one month has lapsed since i became a PR of canada. Further, in the form there are only 4 options i.e 1) i must provide minimum 2 pieces of information that shows residency in canada for the 5 years immediately before the application 2) If i am accompanying a canadian citizen or permanent resident 3) i was working outside canada 4) on humanitarian grounds. None of these are applicable to me. Hence how do i apply for my Permanent resident travel document. any help is welcome. Also is there a limit to the no of times you can apply for a PRTD. Also is there a expiry date on them?

You can still apply even without all that proof. Attach a letter explaining why you don't have the proof (I just landed for a few days, etc.) and a copy of your signed CoPR. You are a PR of Canada, and you are currently maintaining your RO, so you will have no trouble getting a PRTD.

There are no limits to the number of times you get a PRTD. You can get a multiple entry PRTD as well. As long as you can prove that you are a PR, and that you are maintaining your Residency Obligations, you will be given a PRTD.
