Hmmm....Thanks all for the insight and support. I did apply as "Married", so I can't say that I aced all points. From the perspective of number of countries lived only 2 - India (home country) and US - current country of residence. No job offer, not currently living or studying in Canada. But, I have seen cases with all the same factors processing much before me, that is the point of frustration. But, I guess it is what it is....can't do anything. Will just have to bide my time

Here is the thing about Canadian immigration. Every stage in itself is a HUGE hurdle. I have known of cases that have been denied visa even after the following stages:

1. Medical was accepted and visa denied
2. Request for passport and RPRF issued to applicant and then visa denied
3. Interview waived initially and later asked to appear for the interview (which resulted in denial of visa)
3. Visa issued at applicant's home country but entry denied at the port (Canada)

So you see, till the end it is anyone's guess who will make it. Until you actually "land" in Canada with the visa stamped by immigration officials at the port of entry, you are at tenderhooks. It is best to let go and take each stage as it comes. Just my personal thinking. I know it is easier said than done, especially if your career is at stake or if all your hopes are tied to Canadian Permanent Card.

I can only imagine how some of these applicants must have felt coming so close to getting the visa and yet being denied one at the last stage. Best to keep the fingers crossed and hope for the best. Positivity is a virtue when applying for immigration to any country. Cheers.

That is correct MarkCan. But, were they all Buffalo applicants through the new process and under the new rules? I am surprised that so many cases would have been finalized by Buffalo under the new process till now. I had thought that the latest Buffalo had reached of 2009 cases was till medicals. So, that would mean then that Buffalo has really sped up

Hey garian any news on ur time line...
iam following you for the timelines as iam pretty closer to ur filing timings...

I noticed something guys regarding Buffalo applicants and the background checks,

I have never seen any applications transfered from Buffalo to the local visa offices talking about being stuck with any kind of background checks !

Only applications which have been processed in Buffalo without transfer were getting deep background checks(request for information from other agencies and governments) !

For example, i have heard about many cases were stuck with Buffalo for months or even a year after medicals waiting for background checks, but never heard about any other cases in LA, Seattle, Detroit....etc, waiting for any kind of background checks ?

Does it mean that they only transfer the applications which are not going to go thorough deep background checks to the other visa offices(request for information from other agencies and governments) !

I hope not becuase if the answer is yes, it will be a bad sign for all applications being processed at Buffalo which means that Buffalo keeps the applications that might take long time to be finalized, and transfer the others which are not supposed to take that long.

Hi garian,

I have received my second AOR on may 2 but the letter has a date stamp of 08 Apr 2010, so how much time does it take from here to medical.

Hi Sharath, Congratulation for the movement on your case,

Are you in Canada or the US ? regarding the documents they requested you to send, why it is not possible to have them in a compnay letterhead ? if your claimed work experince was in Canada or the US, i think it is easy to prove it by the tax return document issued by the tax department.

Did you get the medical request with those documents ?

Good luck.

If there is no way or hope to get this document in a company letterhead, write an explanation letter to Buffalo stating clearly the reasons of not being able to do so, and write them again on your own in another letter attached to the explanation letter.

Do not forget to inform them that you have left the states, if you have not done yet in order to avoid any requests from their side about any updated documents from the USA..

Just a question, out of curiosity:

How do they contact you from Buffalo to India ?

I'm sorry, I don't understand this - a legitimate MNC is most likely to follow standard business practices and issue standard letters of employment on their letterhead.

Even if you were just a contractor in the US, your direct supervisor in the US would write such a letter, or their HR department would.

You will have to make a good effort to obtain this letter - contacting your employer by email is good, because you can document your efforts. If they respond, in writing, that they will not give it to you, then you can print this and give it to CIC with your employer's contact information. But you will need provide documentation (copy of the contract) along with as much evidence as possible that the company would not give it to you.

I have observed this trend too, pro. And the reason why other visa offices are not asking for too much documentation or doing a lot of b/g checks is their lack of experience in doing so. Most of the applications stay at Buffalo (not more than 10% of all applications sent to Buffalo are sent to other visa offices across the country). It is like this -- Buffalo is the HQ and rest are sales offices. Most of the work is done at HQ. Lucky are the ones who applications are transferred to other visa offices.

I am wondering if guidelines are issued on how and under what circumstances background checks should be carried out.
Meanwhile I will look for them on the net and it would be great is someone who found them earlier can post them here

Hi there
I am a student in a Canadian university. My question is regarding the proof of funds. Is it possible that yearly funding letter that you get from a university while studying can be used as a proof of funds instead of putting 11000 CAD in your bank account.
